Article Abstract

The article considers the main phases of traffic injury (TI) described by A.A. Solokhin in 1968 and their modern application in forensic medical and automotive examination. TI is divided into four sequential phase: collision of vehicle with pedestrian, falling on hood, throwing to the ground and sliding on road surface. An additional intermediate phase occurs at high speed which leads to new injuries. Modern specialized literary sources confirm the data on the mechanisms of interaction between vehicle and pedestrian, focusing on the differences in damage depending on the speed and configuration of the vehicle. The researchers also discuss the consequences of braking and the impact of new technologies, such as SRS electronic units and specialized software, on the quality of automotive examination. The use of security cameras helps to establish the circumstances of an accident, that emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to the analysis of TI. The application of video analysis and modeling programs allows to study more detailed the dynamics of interaction and to establish new mechanisms of TI.

Introduction And Clinical Importance: To present a case of traumatic third cranial nerve palsy and discuss the management challenges associated with this condition.

Case Presentation: A 27-year-old male patient was referred to our hospital following a road traffic accident that resulted in multiple injuries, including traumatic brain injury, orbital injury. The patient presented with left complete upper lid ptosis, a fixed dilated pupil, and restricted extraocular muscle movements in the left eye except abduction with large exotropia >90 PD and hypotropia 25 PD diagnosed as left oculomotor nerve palsy.

Background And Objectives: Fatality rates of motor vehicle crashes among the old population have risen, primarily in association with age-related declines in health and functional abilities. Comparatively little research has been conducted to examine the impacts of risk-taking behaviors (such as unhelmeted, unlicensed, and drunk riding) on fatalities among old motorcyclists.

Materials And Methods: This study employed the Taiwan National Traffic Crash Dataset from 2011 to 2022 to investigate fatal injuries among old motorcyclists.

Pedestrian injuries remain a public health concern, with child pedestrians being particularly vulnerable due to their unique physical and cognitive characteristics. This study presents a comprehensive analysis comparing injury severity patterns between child (≤14 years) and non-child (>14 years) pedestrians using Lasso logistic regression and advanced machine learning techniques, specifically Catboost with SHAP (SHapley Additive exPlanations) values to interpret the models. By analyzing six years of national crash data from the Crash Report Sampling System (CRSS) from 2016 to 2021, we identify significant factors influencing injury outcomes for both age groups.

Introduction: Proximal humeral fracture-dislocations (PHF-D) are complex injuries, often requiring urgent intervention. However, management protocols remain unclear when anatomical reduction of the glenohumeral joint is achieved, but significant displacement of the greater tuberosity persists. The lack of consensus on whether to reclassify such injuries after reduction creates uncertainty in rehabilitation strategies.
