Background: High % of low-voltage area (LVA), a surrogate of scar, is associated with atrial fibrillation (AF) recurrence after pulmonary vein isolation (PVI). Noninvasive biomarkers of LVA are a medical need for PVI decision.
Objective: We aimed to identify the proteome profile of plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) associated with high % LVA, their cellular origin, and their regulation by hyperglycemia.

The 5' untranslated region (5'UTR) plays a crucial regulatory role in messenger RNA (mRNA), with modified 5'UTRs extensively utilized in vaccine production, gene therapy, etc. Nevertheless, manually optimizing 5'UTRs may encounter difficulties in balancing the effects of various cis-elements. Consequently, multiple 5'UTR libraries have been created, and machine learning models have been employed to analyze and predict translation efficiency (TE) and protein expression, providing insights into critical regulatory features.

Purpose: To investigate the short-term impact of exposure to smoke from vegetation burns on ocular surface symptoms and signs.
Methods: Woody bushfuels were burnt in an enclosed room (Flammability Laboratory, University of Tasmania, Australia) to generate particulate matter and monitored in real time (Dust Trak II). Eighteen participants (aged 20-63 years, 8 males and 10 females) fitted with respirators were seated 1.

Background: Gastrointestinal bleeding (GiB) is associated with hypoperfusion, cytokine release, and alterations to the mucosal barrier frequently seen in the critical care population. Risk factors in the population at large have been well-studied, but few have specifically addressed the unique circumstances surrounding critically ill trauma patients. We aimed to evaluate the incidence and risk factors for GiB in the trauma critical care population.

Radiation therapy (RT) plays important roles in cancer treatment, and the efficacy of RT depends on the abscopal effect, which results in the regression of distant and untreated tumors through localized irradiation of a single tumor lesion. This effect is mediated by effector tumor antigen-specific T cells (ETASTs) activated by RT. Monitoring the radiation-induced changes in ETASTs can be used to predict the abscopal effect.
