Objective: It is often argued that executive functioning (EF) tasks and EF questionnaires measure the same construct at different levels of analysis. However, item content on EF questionnaires varies by publisher/rater, indicating a striking lack of consensus on what EF represents when measured via questionnaires. In two separate samples spanning early and middle childhood, and utilizing a multi-method multi-rater approach, we systematically compare the concurrent validity of different questionnaire-based conceptualizations of EF.
Methods: Parents and teachers of children aged 8 to 12 years ( = 226) and 5 to 7 years ( = 152) completed indices marketed as EF on the Behavioral Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF); Conners' Rating Scale; and the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC). Their associations with performance on tasks of working memory (WM) and inhibition were compared against established indices of inattention, impulsivity, and academic underachievement on the same forms.
Results: Across samples, parent and teacher ratings of academic difficulty were most strongly associated with performance, particularly for WM. EF indices were no better (and were sometimes worse) at predicting concurrent EF than established indices of inattention/impulsivity.
Conclusions: Developers of EF scales must either improve the divergent validity of their scales against established indices of attention/impulsivity or improve the convergent validity with tests of EF. Otherwise, the clinical utility of questionnaire-based EF remains questionable. Implications for theory development and research are discussed.

Purpose: To evaluate inter-grader variability in posterior vitreous detachment (PVD) classification in patients with epiretinal membrane (ERM) and macular hole (MH) on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and identify challenges in defining a reliable ground truth for artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools.
Methods: A total of 437 horizontal SD-OCT B-scans were retrospectively selected and independently annotated by six experienced ophthalmologists adopting four categories: 'full PVD', 'partial PVD', 'no PVD', and 'ungradable'. Inter-grader agreement was assessed using pairwise Cohen's kappa scores.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop an ICF core set for assessing stroke survivors in community-based rehabilitation settings in Hong Kong.
Material And Methods: A three-round Delphi process which involved 39 multidisciplinary experts in community-based rehabilitation services was conducted to reach consensus on a preliminary version of ICF core set for stroke survivors. The initial questionnaire included 130 second-level ICF categories while the panel was invited to suggest additional categories.

Objectives: Antibiotic resistance towards penicillin has been attempted to counter by chemically modifying ampicillin through the conjugation with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The current study optimizes the conditions for synthesizing and characterizing AgNP-ampicillin to quantify the conjugation extent, evaluate the antibacterial efficacy, and explore the underlying antibacterial mechanisms.
Materials And Methods: AgNPs were synthesized from silver nitrate by chemical reduction method, silica-coated with tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and amine functionalized by (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES), which was then conjugated with ampicillin via the carbodiimide chemistry.

The biting midges, Culicoides peregrinus Kieffer and Culicoides oxystoma Kieffer (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) are the most significant vector species of bluetongue virus (BTV) in the Oriental region, including India. Rearing of these vector species was cumbersome; previous researchers supplemented the rearing substrates primarily with cattle dung (the habitat), yeast and nutrient broth. Other investigations reiterated that an enriched milieu of live bacteria is required for the oviposition and developmental progression of the immatures as they failed to develop in sterile medium.
