The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is central to energy devices and sustainable chemical production. While acidic and alkaline ORR systems are well studied, neutral media offer advantages such as biocompatibility, environmental safety, and material stability, yet remain less explored. This mini-review summarizes recent progress in ORR electrocatalysis under neutral conditions, covering both four-electron (4e) and two-electron (2e) pathways. Emphasis is placed on catalyst design strategies and performance in complex environments like seawater. Key challenges and future directions are also discussed to guide the development of efficient and scalable ORR systems for real-world applications.

Myocardial injury constitutes a life-threatening complication of sepsis, driven by synergistic oxidative-inflammatory pathology involving dysregulated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and proinflammatory cytokines. This pathophysiological cascade remarkably elevates morbidity and mortality rates in septic patients, emerging as a key contributor to poor clinical outcomes. Despite its clinical significance, no clinically validated therapeutics currently exist for managing septic cardiomyopathy.

This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of Sini Decoction on a murine model of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and to explore its potential mechanisms of action related to mitochondrial autophagy and M1 macrophage polarization. A total of 36 specific-pathogen-free Kunming mice were used to establish a PAD model and were randomly assigned into four groups: the experimental group (EG, administered Sini Decoction via gavage), the control group (CG, administered rapamycin via gavage), the model group (MG, administered 0.9% sodium chloride solution via gavage), and the normal group (NG, administered 0.

Background: Intensive language-action therapy treats language deficits and depressive symptoms in chronic poststroke aphasia, yet the underlying neural mechanisms remain underexplored. Long-range temporal correlations (LRTCs) in blood oxygenation level-dependent signals indicate persistence in brain activity patterns and may relate to learning and levels of depression. This observational study investigates blood oxygenation level-dependent LRTC changes alongside therapy-induced language and mood improvements in perisylvian and domain-general brain areas.

Background: Voghera pepper (VP) extracts were demonstrated to have anti-oxidant ability in several cell types.
Purpose: This study aimed to assess whether VP-extracts could lower oxidative stress and modulate thyroid cancer (TC) cells behavior .
Methods: Extracts were analyzed using the LC-DAD-MS system.

The surface structure of an electrocatalyst plays a crucial role in determining the activity. As a model system, gold has been widely investigated as an electro-oxidation catalyst, although there has been much less research on the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in the potential region of gold oxidation. Here, we combine voltammetric scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), at different spatial and angular resolutions, respectively, to correlate the local crystallographic structure of polycrystalline goldfocusing on grains close to (113), (011), (114), and (111) orientationswith the electrocatalytic behavior for the OER.
