Article Abstract

Understanding the future of ecological communities under global change is among the most pressing challenges in plant ecology. Islands, with their reduced species diversity and clear boundaries, have been central in developing ecological theories and have served as valuable ecological models. But islands are also important in themselves, supporting unique diversity and acting as species refugia. This Tansley insight first discusses recent advances in island research with a focus on new theories linking functional traits to plant community assembly and then highlights implications for community assembly and conservation in response to global change. Understanding how plant traits respond to changing environmental conditions is critical for predicting the future of island floras and devising effective management strategies.

Background: Labeo fimbriatus (Bloch, 1795) is a medium-sized South Asian minor carp with ecological significance and emerging aquaculture potential, particularly in polyculture systems with Indian major carps. Despite its wide distribution, it remains underrepresented in phylogenetic studies, and limited genomic resources are available. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of L.

Trichoderma species exhibit remarkable versatility in adaptability and in occupying habitats with lifestyles ranging from mycoparasitism and saprotrophy to endophytism. In this study, we present the first high-quality whole-genome assembly and annotation of T. lixii using Illumina HiSeq technology to explore the mechanisms of endophytic lifestyle and plant colonization.

Background And Aims: Trait-based approaches have advanced our understanding of plant strategies, yet they often focus on leaf-level traits, overlooking the functional roles of stem anatomy and twig characteristics. We investigated intraspecific trait variation in Salix flabellaris, an alpine dwarf shrub, along climatic gradients in the Himalayas. Our goal was to identify distinct axes of trait variation related to stem, twig, and leaf traits, assess their environmental drivers, and evaluate population-specific growth responses to recent climate change.

Unlabelled: Arctic Indigenous food systems are essential to the survival of local communities, but face significant challenges due to environmental, economic, and social pressures. The objective of this study is to elicit values of the mixed Indigenous food system on St. Paul Island, Alaska, and understand their potential as deep leverage points for transformative change in the context of their historical co-evolution with the local food system.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the implementation rate and timing of pulmonary physical rehabilitation for very low-birth-weight infants (VLBWI) with respiratory distress syndrome (VLBWIs with RDS) in Japan and clarify the current status and challenges of this intervention.

Methods: This observational study analysed nationwide administrative data associated with the diagnostic procedure combination system in Japan (2014-2019 fiscal year). A total of 16 429 VLBWIs with RDS were included.
