Article Abstract

Ponds that serve as bird sanctuaries must be protected and kept in good condition to facilitate the wildlife's expanding population. Therefore, maintaining the pond ecosystem is crucial to achieving wildlife management goals. To achieve this goal, the present study is aim to monitor the water quality of Periya kollukudi patty (PKPTY) pond and their surrounding water sampling point Viz., open well, community pond, and borewell were located in Vettangudi Bird's Sanctuary. Physico-chemical water quality parameters of PKPTY pond water samples have more than the acceptable limit of Total Dissolved Solid (TDS)- (974.83 ppm), magnesium (100.83 mg/l), chloride (615.83 mg/l), nitrogen (578.54 mg/l) content were found. However, borewell water samples are exceeded Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) standard acceptable limits compared to community pond and open well water samples respectively TDS (1458 mg/l), Calcium (101.84 mg/l), Magnesium (263.87 mg/l) Hardness (312.67 mg/l), (Chloride 506.37 mg/l), and nitrogen (406.73 mg/l) due to polluted PKPTY pond water reaches ground water table. Chemical parameters of PKPTY and borewell samples were statistically related and found with 0.1 % significant difference. Water Quality Index (WQI) of community and open well water samples were found below 25 % and attained excellent WQI. While, PKPTY water samples were achieved greater than 100 % WQI followed by borewell water samples. Hence the focus on fresh water ecosystem conservation is explored from this study.

Simultaneous sensing and quantification of pharmaceutically active compounds (PhACs) are crucial for protecting the environment and maintaining long-term ecological sustainability. This study focuses on the bio-based synthesis of BiS-ZnO nanocomposites (BiS-ZnO(bio)) using bio-extract for dual-analyte selective and simultaneous electrochemical monitoring of phenylbutazone (PBZ) and sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) in the environmental matrices. BiS-ZnO(bio) exhibited ZnO(bio) nanostructures embedded on BiS(bio) nanorods with an average rod length of 1409.

Background: Oral emtricitabine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (F/TDF) preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) effectiveness against HIV acquisition highly depends on adherence. For men who have sex with men, a dosing study in the United States (US) population defined clinically meaningful tenofovir diphosphate (TFV-DP) thresholds in dried blood spots (DBS) based on the rounded 25th percentile for 2, 4, and 7 doses/week as 350, 700, and 1,250 fmol/punch. However, divergent efficacy results in the first generation randomized clinical trials of F/TDF PrEP among African women led to several hypotheses to question whether the pharmacology and adherence requirement for oral F/TDF PrEP may be different in cisgender women compared to what is already established for men.

Background: Salmonella enterica encompasses over 2,600 serovars, including several commonly associated with severe infection in humans. Salmonella is a major cause of sepsis in Africa; however, diagnosis requires clinical microbiology facilities. Environmental surveillance has the potential to play a role in Salmonella surveillance.

Flaxseed oil contains elevated levels of omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 FA), which have been shown to impact reproductive performance. This study aimed to determine the effects of a flaxseed oil-based supplement on reproductive parameters, feeding behavior, and lipid profile in beef heifers. Sixty Angus and Simmental × Angus heifers (14 months old ± 2 months), blocked by full body weight (BW; 396.
