Article Abstract

This study explores changes in grief and fear of death in individuals who reported after death communications (ADC) from people who died unexpectedly or whose death was expected. We found that those bereaved by unexpected loss reported significantly higher levels of uncertainty regarding changes in their fear of death compared to those bereaved by an expected loss. However, no significant differences were found in grief between the two groups. Most participants reported a positive impact of ADC on their bereavement, regardless of the type of loss they experienced. These findings underscore the impact of ADCs upon grief and emotional healing, regardless of whether the loss was unexpected or expected. The results of our study may inform understanding of the relationship between death, grief, and consciousness survival.

Background: Elevated homocysteine levels, known as hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy), have been implicated in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Most prior studies focused on first-episode or acute-phase schizophrenia patients, leaving the prevalence, determinants, and clinical correlates of HHcy in chronic schizophrenia understudied. This study aims to investigate the prevalence and determinants of HHcy in patients with chronic schizophrenia, as well as its clinical correlates.

Objective: This study aims to investigate whether alterations in the lower extremity kinematics, kinetics, and muscle activity of individuals with chronic ankle instability (CAI) occur during landing with expected and unexpected inversion perturbations.

Methodology: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus databases were searched for relevant studies up to November 30, 2024. Comparative studies investigating the characteristics of lower extremity kinematics, kinetics, and muscle activity in individuals with CAI compared with healthy controls were included.

When action expectation meets reward history: The interaction of proactive and reactive control during inhibitory control.

Flexibly inhibiting inappropriate responses based on current goals and past experiences is crucial. The dual-mechanism of control (DMC) model proposes that cognitive control involves proactive (expectation-driven) and reactive (stimulus-driven, such as reward history) control. However, how these mechanisms interact during inhibitory control remains unclear.

Effectively evaluating and promoting pro-grazing practices necessitates the implementation of a verification system. To address this imperative, exploration of milk composition analysis as a means to assess grazing practices has garnered substantial attention. In this study, we used component predictions from milk Fourier-transform mid-infrared (FT-MIR) spectra to construct an indicator to estimate the proportion of herbage consumed by dairy cows and another indicator to validate grazing.

The addition of CDK4/6 inhibitors to endocrine therapy has significantly improved outcomes in HR+/HER2- breast cancer. However, variable patient responses and acquired resistance remain a clinical challenge. We therefore defined the comprehensive molecular response to palbociclib, the most clinically used CDK4/6 inhibitor.
