Anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge is inherently limited by the recalcitrance of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and microbial cell envelopes. This study developed an innovative dual pretreatment method integrating sodium disilicate (SD) with thermal hydrolysis (TH) to overcome barriers to biomass degradation. The synergistic effect of SD and TH significantly increased methane yield by 93.3 % (203 vs 105 mL/g volatile solids) compared to untreated sludge, providing a practical approach for efficient bioenergy recovery. Mechanistically, SD disrupts sludge flocs through chelation of metal ion (e.g., Ca/Fe) in EPS and pH-induced structural changes, while subsequent TH lyses the exposed microbial cells, releasing intracellular substrates. This sequential action enriched key microbial communities (e.g., Bacillota, Halobacteriota) and enhanced enzymatic activities, with protease increasing by 3.7 times and coenzyme F420 by 6 times, confirming the strategy's effectiveness in improving biodegradability while avoiding Maillard reactions at lower temperatures. This approach offers an economically and environmentally advantageous pathway for sludge valorization, reducing energy input by 38 % and net treatment cost to $41.7 per metric ton of sludge.

Aims: To compare marginal and internal fit of lithium disilicate (LDS), Biocompatible High-Performance Polymer (BIO-HPP), and monolithic zirconia ceramic endocrowns fabricated using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology.
Materials And Methods: Thirty human extracted mandibular 1 molars were selected. Working length was established and biomechanical preparation was carried out to size 25%-4% using NeoEndo rotary files in the crown down technique.

Commercial toothpaste contains 1,500 ppm NaF to prevent caries; however, the effect of NaF on tooth restorative materials is not fully understood. This study investigated the impact of a 1,500 ppm NaF solution at different pH levels on the mechanical and physicochemical properties of CAD-CAM materials. Aqueous 1,500 ppm NaF solutions were prepared at pH levels 3, 5, and 7.

Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effects of ultrasonic instrumentation and air polishing on surface roughness and marginal integrity of dental restorations, addressing their potential adverse impacts on various biomaterials.
Materials And Methods: A search of five databases, supplemented by manual searches, identified relevant laboratory studies. Forty-two studies met the inclusion criteria, with data on surface roughness and marginal quality extracted for analysis.
