The relationship between dietary habits, including the consumption of eggs, dairy products, and sugar, and the development of disease is well-established. However, further investigation is required to elucidate the precise associations between these dietary habits and cardiovascular disease (CVD). The objective of this study was to analyze existing genome-wide association studies in order to identify causal relationships between dietary habits and CVD.

Background: Atrial fibrillation and flutter (AF/AFL) are traditionally regarded as diseases of ageing, with most research focused on elderly populations. In contrast, early-onset AF/AFL (<65 years) is increasingly recognized as a potential marker of cardiomyopathy, yet its global burden remains poorly understood.
Methods: Using data from the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study, we analyzed trends in prevalence, incidence, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), mortality, and average annual percentage change (AAPC) of AF/AFL among individuals aged 30-64 years from 1990 to 2021.

Clozapine is an effective antipsychotic medication utilised for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. However, clinical use of clozapine is limited due to the risk of cardiotoxicities, including clozapine-induced myocarditis. Oxidation of clozapine and reduction of clozapine-N-oxide can be catalysed by the cardio-selective cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoforms CYP2J2, CYP1A1 and CYP1B1, which are also reported to metabolise arachidonic acid.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection has been increasingly associated with cardiovascular complications, particularly atherosclerosis and cardiomyopathy, in addition to its primary hepatic effects. Studies indicate a higher prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C infection, with viral load and steatosis emerging as independent risk factors. HCV-related atherosclerosis appears to develop through complex processes involving endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress, and immune dysregulation.

This study evaluated the utility of an integrated drug discovery strategy that combines three emerging data-driven approaches: real-world data analysis, in silico screening, and network pharmacology. First, transcriptomic data from public gene expression databases and adverse event reports were analyzed to address myocarditis induced by immune checkpoint inhibitors. The findings suggested a preventive effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, particularly those targeting the arachidonic acid metabolism pathway.
