Article Abstract

The role of spp. in food is debated since this group of lactic acid bacteria contains opportunistic pathogenic strains, some of which exhibit a multidrug-resistant profile. In livestock farms, the use of antibiotics is the most common practice to deal with mastitis-causing bacteria. However, the heavy usage and/or misuse of antibiotics has led to the emergence of antibiotic resistance. This study aimed to genetically and phenotypically characterize strains isolated from raw sheep milk. Samples were collected over one year from the bulk tank of a dairy sheep farm and cultured on selective media. Isolates were purified and analyzed by whole-genome sequencing and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The isolates were divided into clusters and the corresponding species were identified along with their genes related to virulence and antibiotic resistance. The pan-, core- and accessory-genomes of the strains were determined. Finally, the antibiotic-resistant profile of selected strains was examined and associated with their genomic characterization. These findings contribute to a better understanding of epidemiology, providing comprehensive profiles of their virulence and resistance genes. The presence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in raw sheep milk destined for the production of cheese should raise awareness.

is responsible for the disease toxoplasmosis and has the broadest host range among apicomplexan parasites, as it infects virtually all warm-blooded vertebrates. Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic and emerging public health concern with considerable morbidity and mortality, especially in the developing world, affecting approximately one-third of the world's human population. Clinical presentation varies among species, and the infection establishes lifelong chronicity in hosts.

The objective of this work was to deliver a comprehensive genetic characterization of a collection of strains isolated from raw sheep milk. To complete our purpose, the technique of whole-genome sequencing, coupled with bioinformatics and phenotypic characterization of antimicrobial resistance, was performed. These Gram-negative, facultative anaerobic bacteria belong to the family , together with other intestinal pathogens, such as spp.

: is a major pathogen of concern in raw milk due to its potential to cause foodborne illness and its increasing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). In Romania, data on the occurrence and resistance patterns of in raw sheep milk from traditional farming systems remain limited. This study investigated the presence and antimicrobial resistance of in 106 raw sheep milk samples collected from traditional farms in the Banat region of western Romania.

Objective: Wool is an important textile raw material, and fiber diameter is a major determinant of the economic value and quality of wool products. Analyses of the regulatory mechanisms underlying wool fiber diameter are necessary for the development of strategies to improve wool fineness. Therefore, we used methylationomics to analyze the skin tissue of individuals with different fiber diameters, and analyzed the apparent regulation mechanism of wool fiber diameter.
