Background: The Allostatic Load Index (ALI), as a comprehensive biomarker for assessing the body’s chronic stress response, has been widely used in quantitative studies of the physiological mechanisms of stress. In this study, we systematically investigated the relationship between ALI and hepatic steatosis and fibrosis through cross-sectional analysis.

Methods: This study was based on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2017 - March 2020 dataset.

Meditation training has been shown to improve physical and mental health and promote neural plasticity, but more research is needed on the relationships between these effects. This study analyzed the Resting State Functional Connectivity (RSFC) of posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) among 94 chronically stressed but otherwise healthy adults randomized 1:1:1 to receive eight weeks of in-person one-on-one interventions focused either on meditation (n = 32), yoga (n = 31), or stress education (n = 31). We found only in the meditation arm, there was a significant reduction of PCC RSFC with the left hippocampus (p < 0.

Emerging evidence suggests that exposure to air pollutants and road traffic noise triggers stress responses, which mediate physiological responses in multiple organs and tissues. However, epidemiological study in children is sparse. We aimed to evaluate whether outdoor air pollution and road traffic noise are associated with physiological response measured by allostatic load in children.

Background: The wear and tear from chronic stress exposure has been linked to premature aging through allostatic load; however, it is unclear how chronic stress exposure affects physical functioning and physical activity in older adults.

Objectives: The study aims were to examine the behavioral and functional adaptation to chronic stress in older adults and its mediational pathways.

Methods: Data from the Health and Retirement Study 2016 and 2020 ( N = 3075, mean age 66 years) were analyzed.
