Aims: Stroke is a major public health concern leading to high rates of death and disability worldwide, unfortunately with no effective treatment available for stroke recovery during the repair phase.
Methods: Photothrombotic stroke was induced in mice. Adeno-associated viruses (AAV) were microinjected into the peri-infarct cortex immediately after photothrombotic stroke.

Oleuropein aglycone (OA), which is the absorbed form of oleuropein, is a major phenolic compound in extra virgin olive oil. We analyzed the anti-obesity effect of OA intake combined with mild treadmill walking (MTW, 4 m/min for 20 min/d, 5-6 d/wk, without electric shocks and slope) in rats under a high-fat diet (HF). Four-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats (n=28) were equally divided into four groups: control (HF), 0.

Phase-time coupling is a natural process in the phase random walks of a spin system; however, its effect on the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxation is a challenge to the established theories such as the second-order quantum perturbation theory. This paper extends the recently developed phase diffusion method to treat the phase-time coupling effect, based on uncoupled phase diffusions, and coupled random walks. The instantaneous projection of the rotating random field is employed to get the accumulated phase of the NMR observable.

The human musculoskeletal system is well adapted to use energy-efficient muscle-tendon mechanics during walking and running, but muscle behaviour during on-snow locomotion is unknown. Here, we examined muscle and muscle-tendon unit behaviour during diagonal-style cross-country roller skiing at three speed and incline conditions to examine whether skiers can exploit energy-saving mechanisms of the muscle-tendon unit. We assessed lower leg muscle and muscle-tendon unit mechanics and muscle activity in 13 high-level skiers during treadmill roller skiing using synchronised ultrasound, motion capture, electromyography and ski-binding force measurements.
