Meiotic crossovers promote correct chromosome segregation and the shuffling of genetic diversity. However, the measurement of crossovers remains challenging, impeding our ability to decipher the molecular mechanisms that are necessary for their formation and regulation. Here we demonstrate a novel repurposing of the single-nucleus Assay for Transposase Accessible Chromatin with sequencing (snATAC-seq) as a simple and high-throughput method to identify and characterize meiotic crossovers from haploid testis nuclei.

Recombinant proteins have been widely applied in the food, biomedical, and scientific fields. Prokaryotic expression systems are preferred platforms for recombinant protein production due to their rapid growth and high protein yields. Nevertheless, disparities between recombinant expression environment and native physiological conditions frequently result in protein misfolding, leading to aggregation into non-functional inclusion bodies or proteolytic degradation.

Thermal imaging is a key plant phenotyping and monitoring technique but faces major bottlenecks in accurately and efficiently inferring stomatal conductance (g) from leaf temperature. The conductance index (I) was previously proposed to estimate g from thermography by linking temperature differences between real and artificial leaves (ALs) based on the leaf energy balance. However, I is highly sensitive to environmental fluctuations, hampering interpretation and reducing reproducibility.

Validation of helical symmetry parameters in the EMDB.

Acta Crystallogr D Struct Biol

October 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN 47907, USA.

Helical symmetry is a structural feature of many biological assemblies, including cytoskeletons, viruses and pathological amyloid fibrils. The helical parameters twist and rise are unique metadata for helical structures. With the increasing number of helical structures being resolved through cryo-EM and deposited in the EMDB, there is a growing possibility of errors in the metadata associated with these entries.
