Environmental perturbations and local changes in cellular electric potential can stimulate cytoskeletal filaments to transmit ionic currents along their surface. Advanced models and accurate experiments may provide a molecular understanding of these processes and reveal their role in cell electrical activities. This article introduces a multi-scale electrokinetic model incorporating atomistic protein details and biological environments to characterize electrical impulses along microtubules.

We have previously demonstrated that an active dual-nanopore system, consisting of two closely spaced pores operated via feedback controlled biasing, shows promise in achieving controlled, slowed-down translocation. Translocation control is achieved via capturing the DNA in a special tug-of-war configuration, whereby opposing electrophoretic forces at each pore are applied to a DNA molecule co-captured at the two pores.

Purpose: This study investigated the effect of bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) morphology and ascending aortic curvature (AAAc) bending angles on aortic hemodynamics, focusing on transvalvular jets and secondary helical flows that contribute to systolic hemodynamic stress linked to aortic complications.
Methods: Using an MRI-compatible pulsatile flow and pressure system, 24 configurations involving six aortic valves (three Type 1 asymmetric BAVs, two Type 0 symmetric BAVs, and one tricuspid aortic valve [TAV]) across four ascending aortic morphologies-two diameters (30 mm and 40 mm) and two AAAc angles (130° and 109°)-were analyzed through four-dimensional-flow MRI measurements.
Results: Three Type 1 BAVs displayed highly deviated transvalvular jets directed toward the aortic wall on the side of the nonfused cusp.

This work investigates the electroosmotic peristaltic transport of a Casson (blood)-based hybrid nanofluid via an asymmetric channel embedded inside a porous medium. The model takes into consideration electric and magnetic field effects, Ohmic heating, as well as velocity and thermal slip conditions. The governing equations are simplified and solved by employing unsupervised sigmoid-based neural networks (SNNs), Fibonacci-based neural networks (FNNs), and their hybrid model (FSNNs) under the assumptions of low Reynolds number and long wavelength.

NEET protein is an evolutionarily conserved protein in almost all kingdoms of life. As an important member of the NEET (Asn-Glu-Glu-Thr) superfamily, MiNT (Miner2) involved in regulating iron and reactive oxygen species (ROS) homeostasis. It contains two CDGSH (consensus sequence: C-X-C-X2-(S/T)-X3-P-X-C-D-G-(S/A/T)-H) domains used for binding [2Fe2S] clusters.
