The UK Strategic Defence Review 2025 provides a compelling examination of the threats faced by the UK. The UK as a whole, and the Ministry of Defence in particular, must become ready for large-scale conflict operations (LSCO) and learn the lessons from Ukraine. A successful academic military surgical department should regularly re-evaluate its mission, its surgical priorities and its outputs. This paper describes the principles by which the UK Defence Medical Services' Academic Department of Military Surgery and Trauma will work to address the likely clinical realities of LSCO. Three overarching themes to departmental work are described, underpinned by a commitment to collaboration via research partnerships-both within and external to Defence-to enable the delivery of best possible outcomes as the country's armed forces rapidly pivot to the future and adapt to new threats.

Purpose Of Review: Modern presbyopia-correcting intraocular lenses (IOLs) offer a potential solution to address the rising postoperative demand and expectations for spectacle independence following cataract surgery. However, IOL calculation and selection becomes more complex when presented with previous corneal refractive surgery (CRS) or co-existing corneal conditions. This review explores the use of presbyopia-correcting IOLs in eyes with co-existing corneal conditions or surgically altered corneas.

This study investigates a multifunctional hydrogel system integrating carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) in a 3D-printed limonene (LIM) scaffold coated with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS). The system allows to enhance wound healing, prevent infections, and monitor the healing progress. CMC is crosslinked with citric acid (CA) to form the hydrogel matrix (CMC-CA), while the 3D-printed limonene (LIM) scaffold is embedded within the hydrogel to provide mechanical support.

Background: Belzutifan is a HIF-2ɑ inhibitor approved for the treatment of tumors in von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) syndrome and sporadic metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma (spRCC) in the refractory setting. The efficacy and side effects of belzutifan are well-documented from clinical trials, however, real-world data examining the incidence and management of adverse events (AEs) are lacking. Our study aims to describe the AE profiles of belzutifan in spRCC and VHL populations.

Introduction: Glaucoma treatment predominantly involves the use of topical anti-glaucoma eye drops, with patient adherence influenced by individual preferences. This study aimed to assess these preferences and highlight the importance of personalized treatment approaches among ophthalmologists.
Methods: This French multicenter, cross-sectional study involved 21 ophthalmologists-members of the Board of Directors of the French Society of Glaucoma-from both public and private practices, who distributed a standardized questionnaire to their patients with glaucoma.
