Introduction: Glaucoma treatment predominantly involves the use of topical anti-glaucoma eye drops, with patient adherence influenced by individual preferences. This study aimed to assess these preferences and highlight the importance of personalized treatment approaches among ophthalmologists.

Methods: This French multicenter, cross-sectional study involved 21 ophthalmologists-members of the Board of Directors of the French Society of Glaucoma-from both public and private practices, who distributed a standardized questionnaire to their patients with glaucoma.

The vascular theory posits that glaucoma is associated to ocular blood flow alterations. However, there is uncertainty regarding the association of arterial stiffness index (ASI) and pulse pressure (PP) to intraocular pressure (IOP). This study investigates the relationship between ASI and PP, and IOP, using the UK Biobank population.

Background: The EyeCee ONE intraocular lens (Nidek, Gamagori, Japan) has been withdrawn from the market due to a high number of reports of severe ocular hypertension (OHT) following phacoemulsification with implantation of this intraocular lens (IOL). In this case series, we report the results of a toxicological analysis and the surgical management of five patients with severe OHT following the implantation of defective EyeCee ONE IOLs during cataract surgery.

Cases Presentation: Five patients developed early, severe OHT refractory to maximal medical therapy following uneventful phacoemulsification (PCE) cataract surgery with implantation of an EyeCee ONE IOL from a defective lot.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the association between corneal images provided by in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) with clinical parameters and conjunctival expression of HLA-DR antigen in patients with dry eye disease (DED).

Methods: Two hundred fourteen eyes of 214 patients with DED were analyzed, consisting of 2 groups of patients - 63 with autoimmune dry eye disease (AIDED) and 151 with non-autoimmune dry eye disease (NAIDED). Patients underwent a full clinical examination, including symptom screening, using the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire, and objective analysis of DED signs by Schirmer's testing, tear break-up time (TBUT), Oxford's test, and IVCM corneal imaging.

Introduction: Even though the local tolerance of prostaglandin (PG) analogues has improved drastically since the introduction of preservative-free (PF) eye drops, prescription patterns still vary widely among practitioners and between countries and could have an impact on the ocular surface of treated patients and, in consequence, their adherence. The aim of this study is to explore the prescribing patterns of PG analogues monotherapy in France and to evaluate their impact on ocular surface status.

Methods: This was a national multicenter cross-sectional observational study that was conducted by 18 glaucoma experts in France.

Rationale: Nd:YAG (neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet) capsulotomy (Nd:YAG-caps) is the gold standard for the treatment of PCO (Posterior Capsule Opacification). There is a lack of real-world data about Nd:YAG-caps use.

Purpose: This study's objectives were to estimate Nd:YAG-caps incidence in France, to describe the patient characteristics, and to analyze the time between surgeries and capsulotomies.

Methods: Literature review.

Results: The TM is a complex tissue that regulates aqueous humor outflow from the eye.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the imaging features of serious macular issues linked to glaucoma, including macular retinoschisis (MR) and serous retinal detachment (SRD).
  • A total of 10 eyes from 8 patients were evaluated using various imaging techniques, revealing MR in all cases and SRD in half, with no improvement seen in vision despite treatment.
  • The research emphasizes the importance of advanced imaging methods for diagnosing these complications, as traditional treatments did not resolve the macular issues, although one eye showed positive outcomes after vitrectomy.

Introduction: Glaucoma and non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) are optic neuropathies that can both lead to irreversible blindness. Several studies have compared optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) findings in glaucoma and NAION in the presence of similar functional and structural damages with contradictory results. The goal of this study was to use a deep learning system to differentiate OCTA in glaucoma and NAION.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of Preserflo microshunt implantation in eyes with refractory glaucoma. In this retrospective study, a cohort of patients who underwent Preserflo microshunt implantation between April 2019 and August 2020 for refractory glaucoma were evaluated. At the time of surgery, all eyes had uncontrolled intraocular pressure (IOP) despite maximally tolerated medical therapy and at least one previous failed glaucoma filtering surgery.

Purpose: To study changes in the subbasal nerve plexus by In vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) in Sjögren's Syndrome (SS) with or without associated Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN), in order to prevent diagnostic delay.

Methods: Seventy-one patients with SS, including 19 with associated SFN, 20 healthy volunteers and 20 patients with Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) were included in this retrospective case-control study. IVCM was used to investigate subbasal nerve plexus density and morphology.

The trabecular meshwork (TM) is the main site of drainage of the aqueous humor, and its dysfunction leads to intraocular pressure elevation, which is one of the main risk factors of glaucoma. We aimed to compare the effects on cytoskeleton organization and extracellular matrix (ECM) of latanoprost (LT) and a Rho-kinase inhibitor (ROCKi) on a transforming growth factor beta2 (TGF-β2)-induced glaucoma-like model developed from primary culture of human TM cells (pHTMC). The TGF-β2 stimulated pHTMC were grown and incubated with LT or a ROCKi (Y-27632) for 24 h.
