Article Abstract

A smartphone-integrated colorimetric sensing platform based on bovine serum albumin (BSA)-templated manganese dioxide (BSA/MnO) nanoprobe was successfully constructed to achieve high sensitivity and high selectivity for the detection of azodicarbonamide (ADA) in flour. The BSA/MnOnanoprobe was synthesized by a simple one-pot reduction method of BSA using KMnO, without the need for complex post-processing, and had excellent water dispersibility. It undergoes redox reactions with glutathione (GSH) causing self-degradation. Since ADA can oxidize the thiol groups of GSH to disulfide bonds, thereby reducing GSH-mediated MnO degradation, this property was cleverly used for the quantitative detection of ADA. By combining the colorimetric nanoprobe system with smartphone RGB analysis technology, we successfully developed a portable detection platform for accurate determination of ADA content in flour. This research not only provides a simple and practical nanoprobe detection solution for food safety monitoring, but also promotes the innovative application of smartphone-assisted detection technology in the field of food contaminant analysis.

Spirulina is considered a superfood due to its chlorophylls. Two new methods for the determination of chlorophylls and β-carotene were developed here, one based on in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled online to nanoliquid chromatography (nanoLC) with diode array detection (DAD), and the other on ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis DRS). A protocol to extract the pigments from spirulina was proposed using ethanol (1.

A rapid and specific liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method with a wide linear range was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantification of Vitamin K1 (VK1) trans- and cis- isomers in human plasma. Bovine serum albumin solution (15%) served as a surrogate matrix for preparing the calibrators to establish the quantitative curves. After liquid-liquid extraction, VK1 trans- and cis- isomers in plasma samples were separated on a ChromCore C30 column (15 cm × 4.

Institute of Plant Protection, University of Belgrade-Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Phytopathology, Nemanjina 6, Belgrade , Serbia, 11080.

The pathogenic soilborne and postharvest fungus , as newly reported pathogen in Serbia, caused significant disease symptoms on carrot roots and seedlings in inoculation assays. In October 2023, machine-washed and cold-stored carrot roots showed symptoms of black rot of patches and abundant sporulation. The influence of the postharvest treatment of machine washing was confirmed by additional sampling at the production site.

Caliciopsis pinea is the ascomycete plant pathogen that causes caliciopsis canker disease on North American Pinus strobus (eastern white pine). Infections result in downgrading of lumber due to canker formation and overall loss of vigor in P. strobus, which is a critical cover species throughout its native range.
