Objective: Phenobarbital is an inductor of microsomal hepatic enzyme and used as choleretic for cholestatic liver disease to enhance bile flow. It is also used as a premedication for hepatobiliary scintigraphy (HIDA) scan to improve diagnostic accuracy for an obstructive liver disease. We reviewed the available literature on the use of Phenobarbital for treatment of cholestasis and its utility as a premedication for HIDA scan.

Acne vulgaris is a widespread, chronic inflammatory skin condition that significantly impacts patients' quality of life. Although oral isotretinoin remains the most effective treatment, recent evidence suggests that H-antihistamines such as desloratadine and levocetirizine may enhance acne therapy. This study assesses whether combining H-antihistamines to isotretinoin enhances treatment efficacy in acne vulgaris compared to isotretinoin alone.

Lichen simplex chronicus (LSC), also known as neurodermatitis, is a common chronic pruritic dermatosis defined by lichenified plaques resulting from persistent scratching. Though often secondary to underlying dermatologic, systemic, or psychological triggers, LSC represents a distinct clinical entity with significant morbidity. The hallmark itch-scratch cycle contributes not only to visible skin changes but also to substantial sleep disruption, emotional distress, and functional impairment.
