Article Abstract

Background: Clinicians can help address the discrimination that children and youth with disabilities often encounter. However, they commonly report lacking training and experience in addressing multiple forms of discrimination, such as ableism and racism. A lack of knowledge could lead to stigma and inequities within healthcare. This study explores clinicians' suggestions for addressing multiple forms of discrimination among children and youth with disabilities.

Methods: This qualitative study involved in-depth interviews with a purposive sample of 15 paediatric rehabilitation clinicians and community service providers working with disabled youth who have multiple minoritized identities. We applied an inductive thematic analysis to the interview transcripts.

Results: Our findings highlighted the following four themes: (1) disability awareness and anti-ableism training and education; (2) enhancing inclusive programming, services and policies; (3) building connections to supports and resources; and (4) advocacy and incorporating lived experience perspectives.

Conclusion: The results underscore the need for clinicians to engage in more training and to facilitate access to resources for multiply minoritized youth with disabilities. Dedicated funding, resources and commitment at organizational, systems and policy levels are needed to address discrimination.

Background: Genetic variation contributes to atrial fibrillation (AF), but its impact may vary with age. The Research Program contains whole-genome sequencing of data from 100 574 adult participants with linked electronic health records.

Methods: We assessed clinical, monogenic, and polygenic associations with AF in a cross-sectional analysis, stratified by age: <45 years (n=22 290), 45 to 60 years (n=26 805), and >60 years (n=51 659).

Objective: This study investigated the relationship of maternal serum uric acid, cystatin C (CysC), and coagulation indices [international normalized ratio (INR) and fibrinogen (FIB)] during pregnancy with clinical features and prognosis of early-onset pre-eclampsia.

Methods: Patients with pre-eclampsia (n = 133) were retrospectively selected, with clinical features and maternal uric acid, CysC, INR, and FIB levels collected. The relationship between clinical features and maternal uric acid, CysC, INR, and FIB was analyzed by Pearson's and Spearman's analyses.

This study aims to assess the applicability of the Canadian Agility and Movement Skill Assessment (CAMSA) in Chinese children aged 8-12 and to undertake preliminary revisions for areas found to be unsuitable. A randomized sample of 911 children aged 8-12 underwent testing. The results showed that difficulty coefficients for time scores among 8-9-year-olds were relatively low (.

Methylphenidate (MPH) is the first-line treatment for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a condition that disrupts daily functioning. Research indicates that individuals with ADHD often experience sensory processing impairments, regardless of co-occurring conditions. Given the growing interest in pharmacogenetics to personalise treatments and minimise side effects, this study aims to characterise the sensory profiles of in child and youth ADHD patients treated with MPH and investigate potential pharmacogenetic biomarkers that could be associated with treatment outcomes or sensory-related side effects.

Background: Plasma p-tau181 has proven to be a promising diagnostic and prognostic tool in the earliest phases of Alzheimer's disease (AD). We aimed to evaluate the prognostic role of p-tau181 in predicting conversion to AD dementia and worsening in cognition in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and subjective cognitive decline (SCD).

Methods: We consecutively enrolled 163 patients (50 SCD, 70 MCI, and 43 AD-demented (AD-d)), who underwent plasma p-tau181 analysis with the Simoa assay.
