Article Abstract

Introduction: A relational coaching intervention in long-term care (LTC) studied leaders' self-perceptions and behaviours as champions of applying learning in team practice.

Methodology: A developmental evaluation design incorporated an appreciative inquiry framework with 29 leaders from 10 LTC homes using education.

Results: A positive influence on confidence and commitment indicators was found, and key leader behaviours were identified.

Discussion: Goal-directed, relational leadership coaching in LTC supports team practice improvement and is accelerated by the implementation of relational leadership practices.

Implications For Nursing Leadership: Using relational coaching can improve teams' experiences and outcomes of applying learning in practice.

Purpose: Michigan Screening and Intervention for Glaucoma and Eye Health through Telemedicine Program (MI-SIGHT) was developed to facilitate access to glaucoma and eye disease screening and improve attendance at recommended follow-up in underserved communities. MI-SIGHT offered free eye disease screenings, low-cost glasses and for those who screened positive for glaucoma, personalized education, and language-concordant coaching grounded in motivational interviewing. The primary aims of this study were 1) To explore barriers to eye care among Latine participants with limited English proficiency (LEP) who screened positive for glaucoma, 2) to understand whether and how the MI-SIGHT program facilitated access to care and 3) to understand participant experience in MI-SIGHT to inform the development of future interventions.

Background: Interventions aimed to increase healthcare provider empathy and capacity to deliver person-centered care have been shown to improve healthcare seeking and outcomes. In the context of self-injectable contraception, empathetic counseling and coaching may be promising approaches for addressing "fear of the needle" among clients interested in using subcutaneous depot medroxyprogesterone (DMPA-SC). In Nigeria, the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) project developed and evaluated an empathy-based in-service training and supportive supervision intervention for public sector family (FP) planning providers implemented in conjunction with community-based mobilization.

This systematic review synthesized findings from 17 studies conducted between 2000 and 2024, focusing on the definitions, interventions, and outcomes associated with community nursing. The studies originated from diverse countries, including Singapore, Australia, Italy, Portugal, and the United States, and employed various designs such as quasi-experimental trials, pre-post evaluations, and descriptive studies. Sample sizes ranged from 23 to over 1,600 participants, with most targeting older adults or individuals with chronic conditions.

The COVID-19 pandemic presented a unique opportunity to investigate the longitudinal associations between parents' pre-pandemic mental health issues and their emotion-related parenting practices during the pandemic, as well as the impact on children's socio-emotional functioning. The present study aimed to: 1) investigate associations between pre-existing parent mental health issues (2019) with children's long-term socio-emotional functioning (2021), via changes in emotion-related parenting practices during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020); and 2) test whether COVID-19 pandemic-related environmental stressors during 2020 and 2021 exacerbated associations between emotion-related parenting practices and children's socio-emotional functioning.
