Article Abstract

The transmission of the electromagnetic field through a circular aperture in a perfectly conducting plate is evaluated through a rapidly convergent formulation in exact form. The source (a circular loop of constant current) and the receiver of the electromagnetic field can be arbitrarily placed in the two half spaces. By applying the equivalence principle, the problem is first formulated in the Hankel transform domain, obtaining a set of dual integral equations having as unknown the equivalent surface magnetic current density defined on the aperture. The set of dual integral equations is regularized in a second-kind Fredholm integral equation through the application of the method of analytical regularization. The efficiency of the formulation is further improved by adopting suitable techniques to accelerate the computation of all the integrals involved in the solution of the problem.This article is part of the theme issue 'Analytically grounded full-wave methods for advances in computational electromagnetics'.

This study introduces a synergistic catalytic-enzymatic strategy for the efficient and eco-friendly oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) into 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), a key monomer for next-generation biodegradable plastics. Hypocretin: a promising target for the regulation of homeostasis.

Hypocretin, also known as orexin, is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that regulates essential physiological processes including arousal, energy metabolism, feeding behavior, and emotional states. Through widespread projections and two G-protein-coupled receptors-HCRT-1R and HCRT-2R-the hypocretin system exerts diverse modulatory effects across the central nervous system. The role of hypocretin in maintaining wakefulness is well established, particularly in narcolepsy type 1 (NT1), where loss of hypocretin neurons leads to excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy.

The global prevalence of mental health disorders among youths aged 15 to 24 is a significant public health concern. This systematic review aimed to explore global strategies for promoting mental well-being and addressing mental health challenges within this demographic, as defined by the World Health Organization. A comprehensive search of electronic scientific databases was conducted on November 1, 2023, yielding 43 studies with a total of 29,581 participants published between 2008 and 2023 that examined mental health interventions targeting youth.
