Article Abstract

Image processing has been widely adopted as an effective technology for analyzing weld forming quality which is greatly affected by the welding process parameters. In this paper, an (5) orthogonal experiment is designed to investigate the effects of welding process parameters on the weld forming quality in laser welding of aluminum alloy. The weld characteristics including the weld width (), weld penetration (), weld area () and weld porosity () under the conditions of the different welding process parameters consisting of the laser power (), welding speed () and defocus distance () are extracted from the laser welding experiment based on image processing. The effectiveness of the weld characteristics extraction method is verified by comparing the extracted results with the measured results. It is found that the , and are all significantly influenced by the among the three welding process parameters while the influences of the three process parameters on the are insignificant. The has a significant influence on the and the has a significant influence on the . The corresponding significance of influence is lower than the significance of influence of . The analysis results are conducive to the optimization of laser welding process parameters and improvement of welding quality.

In the last decades, immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment. Despite its success, a significant number of patients fail to respond, and the underlying causes of ineffectiveness remain poorly understood. Factors such as nutritional status and body composition are emerging as key predictors of immunotherapy outcomes.

Mean Airway Pressure-An Informative but Overlooked Indicator of Mechanical Power.

Mean airway pressure, a monitored variable continuously available on the modern ventilator, is the pressure measured at the airway opening averaged over the time needed to complete the entire respiratory cycle. Mean airway pressure is well recognized to connect three key physiologic processes in mechanical ventilation: physical stretch, cardiovascular dynamics, and pulmonary gas exchange. Although other parameters currently employed in adults to determine "safe" ventilation are undoubtedly valuable for daily practice, all have limitations for continuous monitoring of ventilation hazard.

This study investigated the effect of refining time on the physicochemical and functional properties of anhydrous cream prepared from a palm-sunflower oil blend using a stirred ball mill. Refining was performed for 0-300 min, and its impact on particle size distribution, rheology, oxidative stability, and thermal behavior was assessed. The target particle fineness (D90 ≤ 30 μm) was achieved at approximately 180 min, with negligible reduction thereafter.

Approach to Evaluating Reorganization Energies of Interfacial Electrochemical Reactions.

Reaction rate coefficients for electron-transfer processes at the electrode-electrolyte interface are commonly estimated by using the Butler-Volmer equation, but their values are inaccurate beyond a few tenths of volts of overpotential. The Marcus-Hush-Chidsey (MHC) formalism yields correct asymptotic behavior of the rate coefficients vs applied overpotential but has complex dependencies on the redox system's intrinsic parameters, which can be difficult to model or measure. In this work, we bridge the two kinetics formalisms to estimate the reorganization energy, one of the important parameters for the MHC formalism, and investigate its dependence on other intrinsic parameters such as activation barriers, electronic coupling strength, and the density of states of the electrode surface.

The sustainable synthesis of bio-based monomers from renewable biomass intermediates is a central goal in green chemistry and biorefinery innovation. This study introduces a synergistic catalytic-enzymatic strategy for the efficient and eco-friendly oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) into 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), a key monomer for next-generation biodegradable plastics. The catalytic phase employed non-noble metal catalysts, MnO and Co-Mn supported on activated carbon (Co-Mn/AC), under mild batch reaction conditions at 90 °C.
