Article Abstract

Resting-state fMRI has spurred an impressive amount of methods development, among which dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) is one important branch. However, the relevance of time-varying and time-resolved features has led to debate, to which we want to bring in our viewpoint. We argue that, while statistically many dFC features extracted from resting state are contained within a sufficiently strong null model, these features can still reflect underlying neuronal activity. The use of naturalistic experimental paradigms, at the boundary between resting state and task, is essential to validate their relevance. In parallel, leveraging methods that specifically rely on sparsity is an avenue to strengthen the statistical significance of time-resolved information carried by ongoing brain activity.

Crop growth rate is a critical physiological trait for forage and bioenergy crops like sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench], influencing overall crop productivity, particularly in photoperiod-sensitive (PS) types. Crop growth rate studies focus on either a physiological approach utilizing a few genotypes to analyze biomass accumulation or a genetic approach characterizing easily scorable proxy traits in larger populations.

Molecular Plasmonic Cavities.

Graphene-based photonic structures have emerged as fertile ground for the controlled manipulation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs), providing a two-dimensional platform with low optoelectronic losses. In principle, nanostructuring graphene can enable further confinement of nanolight─enhancing light-matter interactions in the form of SPP cavity modes. In this study, we engineer nanoscale plasmonic cavities composed of self-assembled C arrays on graphene.

Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC) is a serious complication of sepsis. The relationship between SIC and protein acetylation, particularly the balance between acetylation and deacetylation in cardiomyocyte subcellular structures, as well as how nuclear-mitochondrial coordination maintains standard antioxidant stress capacity, remains unclear. This study focused on exploring the nuclear-mitochondrial regulatory mechanisms formed by the interplay of Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) and Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a).

The discovery of solute precursors of crystalline materials, such as biominerals, recently challenged the classical nucleation theory (CNT). One emerging method for investigating these early-stage intermediates in solution is dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (dDNP)-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Recent applications of dDNP to calcium carbonate (CaC) and calcium phosphate (CaP) mineralization have demonstrated the feasibility of identifying and tracing very early-stage prenucleation clusters (PNCs).

Kinesin family member 14 (KIF14) has been implicated in the progression of multiple cancer types, yet its role in colorectal cancer (CRC) metastasis remains undefined. Here, we assesse KIF14 expression in CRC specimens and explore its clinical and functional significance. KIF14 upregulation is frequently observed in CRC tissues and is correlated with advanced tumor stage and reduced overall survival.
