We demonstrate an error-free data transmission system without equalization, where both transmitter and receiver are fabricated using complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) compatible germanium-silicon (GeSi) processes. By utilizing a germanium-based electro absorption modulator (EAM) and a photodetector (PD), experimental results show that the L-band transmission system can achieve error-free transmission of 32 G baud non-return-to-zero (NRZ) signals. This work paves the way for mass production of direct link systems, providing a small size, low cost, and low latency solution for board-to-board communication applications. It is also anticipated that the co-fabrication of optical and circuit devices will become a possibility.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition associated with altered resting-state brain function. An increased excitation-inhibition ratio is discussed as a pathomechanism but in-vivo evidence of disturbed neurotransmission underlying functional alterations remains scarce. We compare local resting-state brain activity and neurotransmitter co-localizations between autism (N = 405, N = 395) and neurotypical controls (N = 473, N = 474) in two independent cohorts and correlate them with excitation-inhibition changes induced by glutamatergic (ketamine) and GABAergic (midazolam) medication.

Background: Family violence-comprising both child maltreatment and interparental violence-is a pervasive global public-health concern that disproportionately affects children and adolescents. In China, current and nationally representative prevalence estimates remain scarce, impeding evidence-based prevention.
Objective: This study examines the prevalence and consequences of witnessing only, experiencing only, and concurrently witnessing and experiencing family violence among Chinese children and adolescents, with a specific focus on school bullying.

The virus has spread across most regions of Asia and Europe, resulting in the deaths of millions of pigs.
