IntroductionThe use of digital solutions including patient-reported outcomes is limited to follow-up of patients with established diagnoses but is rarely used as first step of the diagnostic process substituting a personal contact with a health professional. We report on the diagnostic validity and cost per patient implications based on a feasibility study of a new virtual diagnostic service (VDS) for common neurological sleep disorders that, as a first step, involves the collection and automated analysis of self-reported digital patient data.MethodsThe VDS was established at the Odense University Hospital, Denmark.

Introduction: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) requires reliable vascular access for medication, transfusion, and blood sampling, which often involves painful venipuncture. This prospective study evaluated a novel dual peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) technique to reduce venipuncture frequency in allo-HSCT recipients.

Methods: The study enrolled 29 allo-HSCT recipients.

Introduction: This post hoc analysis of an A Toujeo Observational Study (ATOS) aims to evaluate the real-world effectiveness and safety of insulin glargine 300 U/ml (Gla-300) in high-risk subgroups of insulin-naïve people with type 2 diabetes (PwT2D) from multiple geographical regions (Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe).

Methods: In these post hoc analyses of ATOS, a real-world, 12-month, prospective study included 4422 insulin-naïve adults (age ≥ 18 years) with type 2 diabetes (T2D) uncontrolled (HbA > 7% and ≤ 11%) on one or more oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs) who initiated Gla-300 treatment as per routine practice. Primary and secondary endpoints were studied according to renal impairment (RI) status (without or with) and age group ( View Article and Find Full Text PDF

Complication Rates are Low for Women Aged 70 and Older Undergoing Sacrocolpopexy.

Int Urogynecol J

September 2025

Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Magee-Womens Hospital, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Aging may place patients at greater risk for adverse perioperative outcomes. We hypothesized that women undergoing minimally invasive (MIS) sacrocolpopexy aged ≥ 70 years are more likely to experience adverse events (AE) within 8 weeks of surgery.

Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of a retrospective study on perioperative adverse events in women ≥ 61 years old undergoing prolapse surgery at a single academic center from January 2016 to May 2023.

Introduction: Pharmacological therapies for chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) are useful, but many patients report dissatisfaction from a lack of efficacy and occurrence of adverse events. The vibrating capsule (VC) is an FDA approved non-pharmacologic, treatment for CIC. However, its long-term usefulness in a community setting is unknown.
