Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) presents a significant clinical challenge, with conventional therapies carrying substantial risks, including urinary retention, sexual dysfunction, and prolonged recovery. To address the urgent need for safer, ultra-minimally invasive alternatives, we developed a sonosensitizing nanoplatform using copper-manganese-doped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (Cu-Mn@SiO) for ultrasound-induced sonodynamic therapy (SDT). Here, we demonstrate that this innovative strategy provides highly effective and precisely targeted therapy for BPH.

Cystadenoma of the seminal vesicle is a benign epithelial tumor composed of variably sized cysts, lined by bland epithelial cells, and surrounded by fibromuscular stroma. Considered rare and mostly described in case reports, affected patients are frequently described as presenting with obstructive urinary symptoms due to mass effect. Nonetheless, anecdotally, we have seen these tumors present more frequently as smaller, incidental lesions.

Extraosseous Ewing's sarcoma (EES) is a rare but aggressive soft tissue malignancy of small round blue cells and commonly poses a diagnostic challenge because of its nonspecific anatomical locations and association with other neoplasms. This series of cases presents five uncommon presentations of EES in adult patients in the form of tumors present in the mediastinum, mesentery, right suprarenal gland, infraclavicular soft tissue, and prostate. The clinical presentations varied from rapidly worsening respiratory failure caused by a mediastinal tumor to a preoperatively misdiagnosed gastrointestinal stromal tumor that was subsequently diagnosed as EES post-surgery.

Advanced prostate cancer frequently develops resistance to antiandrogen therapy and acquires an aggressive neuroendocrine phenotype. Antiandrogens stimulate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG) signaling and cancer progression. Molecular iodine (I) induces cytotoxic effects in prostate cancer cell lines and antineoplastic effects in neuroblastoma and breast cancer through the indirect activation of PPARG.
