Esophageal cancer (EC) is one of the most serious health issues around the world, ranking seventh among the most lethal types of cancer and eleventh among the most common types of cancer worldwide. Traditional therapies-such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy-often yield limited success, especially in the advanced stages of EC, prompting the pursuit of novel and more effective treatment strategies. Immunotherapy has emerged as a promising option; nonetheless, its clinical success is hindered by variable patient responses.

Acoustic particle motion is the primary cue for fish hearing and a vector quantity that contains polarization information (including directionality) relevant to the directional hearing abilities of fishes. Polarization metrics, including ellipse orientation angle, ellipticity angle, and degree of polarization, have been recently applied to describe particle motion polarization in physical acoustical oceanography studies and have yet to be applied to in situ biological signals. This study harnessed data from a compact orthogonal hydrophone array deployed on the seafloor offshore of Florida (part of the Atlantic Deepwater Ecosystem Observatory Network) to investigate particle motion polarization properties of unidentified acoustic fish signals relative to ambient and ship noise.

Infrared (IR) radiation, a versatile and efficient heating method, has garnered significant attention in the food and oil processing industries because of its unique heat transfer mechanism and broad range of applications. IR is applied in drying, peeling, decontamination, enzyme inactivation, and roasting, underscoring its potential for energy-efficient, high-quality processing. Its application to oil-bearing materials improves moisture removal rates and supports the preservation of critical quality parameters.

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs), also referred as exosomes, have emerged as valuable indicators of cancer progression and response to treatment. They offer prospective targets for therapeutic interventions as well as insightful information about the fundamental mechanisms underlying the development of cancer. sEVs have garnered significant attention as a useful tool for liquid biopsies used in non-invasive cancer diagnosis.

Background: Online adaptive radiation therapy (ART) offers a paradigm shift in radiotherapy by enabling adjustments to the planned dose based on daily anatomical variation. In the context of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for online ART on a standard linac, thoracic and abdominal treatment sites in particular present unique challenges due to the typically large treatment volumes, mobile anatomy, scatter-induced image quality degradation, and hounsfield unit (HU) limitations. A recent hardware and software upgrade for a standard linac, Varian TrueBeam (TB) v4.
