Article Abstract

Saline-alkali conditions are regarded as among the most serious abiotic stressors that impede plant growth and lead to substantial reductions in plant yields. The bZIP transcription factor (TF) exerts a crucial function in plant adaptation to various environmental stresses. However, its function and mechanisms in conferring tolerance to saline-alkali (NaHCO) stress remain insufficiently characterized. This study demonstrates that the BpbZIP5 TF from Betula platyphylla exhibits significant responsiveness to saline-alkali stress. Overexpression of BpbZIP5 correlates positively with saline-alkali stress tolerance by facilitating reactive oxygen species (ROS) elimination and maintaining ion homeostasis in B. platyphylla. Moreover, BpbZIP5 is vital in controlling stomatal aperture, thereby enhancing resistance to saline-alkali conditions. The qRT-PCR and RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) analyses reveal that BpbZIP5 regulates the expression of genes associated with stress tolerance. Through TF-centered yeast one-hybrid analysis, BpbZIP5 demonstrates interaction with four novel elements. Additional research confirms that BpbZIP5 modulates downstream gene expression through specific element interactions, as verified by chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) and β-glucuronidase (GUS) activity. This investigation provides novel insights into the function and mechanism of BpbZIP5 in NaHCO stress response, indicating its potential as a candidate for improving stress tolerance in forest plants.

Objective: Art therapy offers a predominantly non-verbal form of creative self-expression for people experiencing mental health issues. This systematic review aims to investigate the effectiveness and acceptability of art therapy for children and adolescents experiencing acute or severe mental health conditions.

Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, five electronic databases were searched (Embase, MEDLINE, Web of Science Core Collection, PsychINFO, CINAHL) using the search terms ('art therap*' OR 'art psychotherap*') AND ('child*' OR 'adolescen*' OR 'youth' OR 'young' OR 'teen*').

B cell tolerance is critical for preventing autoimmunity, yet the mechanisms by which B cells discriminate self from non-self antigens remain incompletely understood. While early findings emphasize the role of classical antigen-mediated BCR signaling strength by varying antigen formats, emerging evidence highlights the importance of mechanical cues during antigen recognition. This review explores how mechanosensitive ion channels, particularly Piezo1, contribute to B cell activation and tolerance by integrating physical forces at the immune synapse.

Melatonin, a multifunctional signalling molecule in plants, has been increasingly recognized for its role in improving stress tolerance, regulating hormone signalling, and enhancing crop productivity. Exogenous melatonin application represents a promising strategy to enhance crop productivity under global agricultural challenges. This study aimed to investigate the physiological and molecular mechanisms by which melatonin improves yield in Brassica napus.

Music listening may decrease pain via psychobiological mechanisms. Music listening style (MLS) influences music processing: Music empathizers (ME) focus on emotional aspects of music, whereas music systemizers (MS) focus on structural aspects, potentially affecting processes of music-induced analgesia. The effects of the MLS on music-induced analgesia might depend on the source of music selection (i.
