Microplastic (MP) contamination in human tissues is an emerging environmental and clinical concern, yet its relevance to organ transplantation remains poorly understood. This study characterized MPs in kidney transplantation-associated donor tissues and examined their relationship with early postoperative blood pressure (BP) in recipients. Tissue samples, including kidney, adrenal gland, renal artery, renal vein, and ureter, were collected from 28 kidney transplant donors.

Microplastics (MPs), as emerging contaminants, are widely distributed in aquatic environments and influence the transformation and ultimate outcome of organic pollutants through adsorption and interfacial effects. This study systematically explored the degradation mechanisms of diethyl phthalate (DEP) initiated by hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and sulfate radicals (SO•⁻), with a focus on how polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) microplastics affect these processes. Density functional theory (DFT) computations were employed to identify the transformation pathways of DEP in the presence of both radicals, and transition state theory (TST) combined with diffusion-controlled rate corrections was further applied to calculate reaction rate constants.

The objective is to present the clinical improvement observed after ab interno intraluminal occlusion of Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) tube with a 4-0 polypropylene suture in a patient with secondary hypotony following AGV implantation. A 47-year-old male patient with a history of retinitis pigmentosa, congenital cataract, and glaucoma had undergone ex-press glaucoma filtration device implantation and cyclophotocoagulation treatments in his left eye previously. The intraocular pressure (IOP) was not regulated with these treatments, and an AGV implantation was performed in our clinic.

PurposeTo compare the modified Yamane (MY) technique with the modified double-flange (MDF) technique in the management of subluxated single-piece foldable intraocular lenses (IOLs).MethodsThis retrospective study was conducted on 29 eyes (group MY:17 eyes, group MDF:12 eyes). In both techniques, the subluxated IOLs were moved to the anterior chamber, and anterior vitrectomy was performed.
