Satellite images provide an effective way to observe the earth surface on a large scale. 3D landscape models can provide critical structural information, such as forestry and crop growth. However, there has been very limited research to estimate the depth and the 3D models of the earth based on satellite images. LiDAR measurements on satellites are usually quite sparse. RGB images have higher resolution than LiDAR, but there has been little research on 3D surface measurements based on satellite RGB images. In comparison with in-situ sensing, satellite RGB images are usually low resolution. In this research, we explore the method that can enhance the satellite image resolution to generate super-resolution images and then conduct depth estimation and 3D reconstruction based on higher-resolution satellite images. Leveraging the strong generation capability of diffusion models, we developed a simultaneous diffusion model learning framework that can train diffusion models for both super-resolution images and depth estimation. With the super-resolution images and the corresponding depth maps, 3D surface reconstruction models with detailed landscape information can be generated. We evaluated the proposed methodology on multiple satellite datasets for both super-resolution and depth estimation tasks, which have demonstrated the effectiveness of our methodology.

A key challenge in PET systems is collecting large amount of data with the most accurate information-time, energy, and position-to produce high-resolution images while limiting the number of channels to reduce costs and improve data collection efficiency. The new Ultra-High-performance Brain (UHB) scanner under development aims to tackle this issue, using a semi-monolithic detector that combines pixelated arrays and monolithic designs, along with signal multiplexing techniques. Approach.

With growing populations and an increasing frequency of flood events, large-scale flood hazard assessment (LSFHA) and exposure analyses have become critically important. Global Flood Models (GFMs) significantly contribute to these efforts by simulating flood dynamics based on runoff inputs from Land Surface Models (LSMs), Global Hydrological Models (GHMs), or Reanalysis datasets. However, GFM outputs remain highly sensitive to runoff input choice, leading to substantial uncertainty in LSFHA.

Background: Accurate evaluation of the invasion depth of superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SESCC) is crucial for optimal treatment. While magnifying endoscopy (ME) using the Japanese Esophageal Society (JES) classification is reported as the most accurate method to predict invasion depth, its efficacy has not been tested in the Western world. This study aims to evaluate the interobserver agreement of the JES classification for SESCC and its accuracy in estimating invasion depth in a Brazilian tertiary hospital.

Background: Interventions aimed to increase healthcare provider empathy and capacity to deliver person-centered care have been shown to improve healthcare seeking and outcomes. In the context of self-injectable contraception, empathetic counseling and coaching may be promising approaches for addressing "fear of the needle" among clients interested in using subcutaneous depot medroxyprogesterone (DMPA-SC). In Nigeria, the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) project developed and evaluated an empathy-based in-service training and supportive supervision intervention for public sector family (FP) planning providers implemented in conjunction with community-based mobilization.

A number of techniques have been developed to measure the three-dimensional trajectories of protists, which require special experimental set-ups, such as a pair of orthogonal cameras. On the other hand, machine learning techniques have been used to estimate the vertical position of spherical particles from the defocus pattern, but they require the acquisition of a labelled dataset with finely spaced vertical positions. Here, we describe a simple way to make a dataset of images labelled with vertical position from a single 5 min movie, based on a tilted slide set-up.
