Chronic suppurative diseases of the scalp, including acne keloidalis nuchae (AKN), dissecting cellulitis of the scalp (DCS), and folliculitis decalvans, are characterized by the presence of persistent abscesses, fistulas, and progressive scarring. The treatment of these conditions often presents a challenge, requiring both pharmacological and surgical interventions. We present herein two cases of long-standing, chronic, refractory suppurative scalp conditions that were successfully treated with surgical excision and subsequent skin grafting. The first case is that of a 53-year-old man with AKN, characterized by extensive abscesses and scarring in the occipital region. The second case is that of a 61-year-old man with DCS, exhibiting recurrent folliculitis and abscesses. Both patients underwent a complete excision of the affected areas followed by full- or split-thickness skin grafts, resulting in favorable cosmetic outcomes. Histopathological examination in each case confirmed the diagnoses of AKN and DCS. These case reports underscore the effectiveness of surgical intervention in managing resistant cases of severe chronic suppurative diseases of the scalp, with good postoperative outcomes. This finding highlights the potential for improved quality of life with timely surgical management among patients suffering from these diseases.

Background: Metastases in the lateral pelvic lymph nodes or mesenteric lymph nodes represent distinct categories of mid-low rectal cancer. This study investigated the patterns of mesenteric and lateral pelvic lymph node metastases in mid-low rectal cancer; the survival benefit of postoperative treatment was also analysed in these groups.
Methods: This retrospective multicentre study included consecutive patients with mid-low rectal cancer who underwent total mesorectal excision with lateral pelvic lymph node dissection in three Chinese institutions between 2012 and 2020.

Objectives: In patients with significant upper airway stenosis, airway compromise can occur associated with general anesthesia (GA). A previous study demonstrated the feasibility of awake laser laryngeal stenosis surgery (ALLSS) in the operating room (OR) in five patients. This study sought to determine patient outcomes of ALLSS.

Juvenile fibroadenoma typically is seen in the adolescent patient and has distinctive clinical and histopathological features that are related to the early onset of the benign tumor. Only rarely can juvenile fibroadenoma occur as a prepubertal lesion or may be detected earlier in childhood, raising questions about differential diagnosis and management of the lesion. We present a case of very early first manifestation of juvenile fibroadenoma in a 2-year-old patient.

Aims: To determine the optimal extent of lymph node dissection for non-metastatic colon cancer by tumor location based on the therapeutic value index (TVI) for each lymph node station.
Methods: Consecutive patients with surgical stage I-III colon or rectosigmoid cancer in the Japanese Society for Cancer of the Colon and Rectum database who underwent curative resection between January 2003 and December 2014 were analyzed. The TVI was defined as the incidence of lymph node metastasis multiplied by 5-year overall survival and calculated for each nodal station stratified by tumor location.

Rationale: Cotyledonoid dissecting leiomyoma (CDL) is an exceptionally rare and morphologically unusual benign uterine leiomyoma. Its malignant-mimicking radiographic and intraoperative features pose a significant diagnostic challenge, often leading to misinterpretation and potentially overtreatment. This case is reported for its rarity and to highlight the critical importance of pathological recognition.
