Vertical-looking radars (VLRs) detect individual flying animals up to ∼2 km above ground and characterize their flight track, timing, wing movement, size, and shape. We present a protocol for calculating individual vertical movement characteristics and producing diel vertical movement profiles using the BirdScan MR1 VLR, based on flight altitude detection and timing. The protocol includes steps for data preparation and analysis. This protocol promotes a more detailed understanding of migration ecology, stopover behavior, and movement phenology. Purpose: To investigate eye movement dynamics during excimer laser ablation, specifically femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK), and compare movement patterns between the right eye (always operated on first) and the left eye (operated on second), analyzing direction, magnitude, and temporal changes.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 92 eyes from 46 patients who underwent FS-LASIK with the SCHWIND AMARIS system (SCHWIND eye-tech-solutions). Eye-tracking data were collected to record horizontal and vertical directional movements; variability was assessed using standardized metrics.

The functional interaction of regulatory mechanisms that manage total centre of mass (CoM) energy, frontal plane whole-body angular momentum and mediolateral margin of stability (MoS) during hole negotiation gait was investigated. Joint kinematics, leg posture, total CoM energy, frontal plane whole-body angular momentum, mediolateral MoS and muscle activation patterns of seven bilateral lower leg muscles were assessed in 18 participants. During hole negotiation, we found an increase in the peak-to-peak range of total CoM energy and frontal plane whole-body angular momentum during the preparation, hole and recovery steps, and a decrease in mediolateral MoS at touch-down during the preparation and hole steps compared to level walking, providing evidence of an increased challenge in stability control.

Voltage-dependence gating of ion channels underlies numerous physiological and pathophysiological processes, and disruption of normal voltage gating is the cause of many channelopathies. Here, long timescale atomistic simulations were performed to directly probe voltage-induced gating transitions of the big potassium (BK) channels, where the voltage sensor domain (VSD) movement has been suggested to be distinct from that of canonical Kv channels but remains poorly understood. Using a Core-MT construct without the gating ring, multiple voltage activation transitions were observed at 750 mV, allowing detailed analysis of the activated state of BK VSD and key mechanistic features.

Visual motion perception declines during natural aging in most animals including humans. Edible berries of blackcurrant (BC) and its extracted anthocyanins (BCAs) have beneficial effects on human eyes.
