Effectively learning from sequential data is a longstanding goal of Artificial Intelligence, especially in the case of long sequences. From the dawn of Machine Learning, several researchers have pursued algorithms and architectures capable of processing sequences of patterns, retaining information about past inputs while still leveraging future data, without losing precious long-term dependencies and correlations. While such an ultimate goal is inspired by the human hallmark of continuous real-time processing of sensory information, several solutions have simplified the learning paradigm by artificially limiting the processed context or dealing with sequences of limited length, given in advance.

Radiology reports are an integral part of patient medical records; however, these reports often contain complex medical terminology that are difficult for patients to comprehend, potentially leading to anxiety, misunderstanding, and misinterpretation. The development of user-friendly instruments to improve understanding is thus critically important to enhance health literacy and empower patients. In this study, we introduce a novel artificial intelligence (AI) interface, the Rads-Lit Tool, which can simplify radiology reports for patients using natural language processing (NLP) techniques.

Languages have evolved in part due to cross-modal associations between shape and sound. A famous example is the Bouba-Kiki effect, wherein humans associate words like bouba/kiki to round/angular shapes. How does the Bouba-Kiki effect work for natural words and shapes that contain a mixture of features? If the effect is holistic, the effect for a composite stimulus would not be explainable using the parts.

Purpose: To introduce mtrk, a new open-source tool based on modern software-engineering principles that simplifies pulse-sequence design, implementation, and dissemination.
Methods: The mtrk framework is vendor-agnostic and relies on a compact and human-readable descriptive language. Users can design pulse sequences using either a Python-based programming interface or an intuitive graphical interface.
