-an acid-fast staining bacterium-is a serious global health challenge that can have both short-term and long-term complications. Although the immune response helps trap the infection, it can also cause necrosis and calcification, leading to lung tissue damage. Calcification is a known outcome of chronic granuloma evolution in TB. Multiple pathways contribute to fibrosis and calcification; some examples are IL-1β, TGF-β, and TNF-α. Current antifibrotic drugs, such as nintedanib and pirfenidone, are effective but may increase the risk of latent tuberculosis reactivation in certain patients. Experimental therapies such as artemisinin derivatives have shown promise in preclinical TB fibrosis models, while cell-based therapies like bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells are also under early investigation for dual antifibrotic and immunomodulatory effects. This literature review will explore recent studies on the pathogenesis of , the mechanisms underlying calcification in granuloma formation, and subsequent complications of the disease process.

Objectives: Some granulomas exhibit CT manifestations similar to those of peripheral lung cancers (PLCs), often resulting in misdiagnosis. This study aimed to identify the key clinical and CT indicators for differentiating them.
Materials And Methods: From October 2019 to July 2024, 204 atypical granulomas (no calcification, satellite lesions, and/or halo sign) and 204 size-matched PLCs manifested as solid nodules (SNs) were retrospectively enrolled.

Background: Granulomas were frequently misdiagnosed as peripheral lung cancers (PLCs) due to their similarities in imaging findings. This study aimed to establish a classification system based on thin-section computed tomography (TSCT) features for distinguishing granulomas from PLCs.
Methods: From January 2012 to November 2023, 561 granulomas and 561 size-matched PLCs manifested as solid nodules (SNs) were retrospectively enrolled.

A 34-year-old man with a history of self-administering paraffin injections to the upper extremities and pectoral muscles for esthetic enhancement underwent an [18F]FDG PET/CT scan. Images show disseminated hypodense granulomas, representing oil deposits, throughout the upper extremity and chest musculature. Extensive calcifications were present throughout the body, infiltrating muscles, subcutaneous tissues, and scrotum, and depositing in the kidneys as nephrolithiasis as well as in the vascular walls.

Background: Diagnosis of brain tumors increased in sub-Saharan Africa since the advent of computed tomography (CT)-scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in these regions, enabling easy diagnosis. However, some histological types of brain tumors can be confusing, especially on CT-scan, simulating other pathologies such as inflammatory granulomas or pyogenic abscesses. MRI, in this instance, with its diffusion-weighted imaging, susceptibility weighted imaging, or perfusion imaging, is important to help with accurate diagnosis.
