Article Abstract

: The compound 3-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) propionic acid (HMPA) is a terminal metabolite derived from polyphenol compounds. It has been studied for its potential to support brain health indirectly through its anti-oxidant effects and ability to enhance the gut environment; however, its role in dementia pathogenesis is unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate how HMPA inhibits Aβ42 aggregation in vitro. : We examined the inhibitory effects of HMPA on amyloid-β protein (Aβ) aggregation using a thioflavin T (ThT) assay and electron microscopy (EM). : ThT assays demonstrated that HMPA inhibited both the nucleation and elongation phases of Aβ aggregation. Additionally, EM of low-molecular-weight (LMW) Aβ42 in the presence of HMPA demonstrated shorter fibrils compared to those formed without HMPA. The EC of HMPA in LMW Aβ42 was 5-6 mM. : These findings indicate that, similar to several polyphenol compounds such as myricetin and rosmarinic acid, HMPA may inhibit Aβ pathogenesis, although it requires a fairly high concentration in vitro. These findings suggest the potential of HMPA as a lead compound for modulating Aβ-related neurodegeneration.

A fundamental barrier to industrial electrosynthesis is the inescapable trade-off between activity and selectivity at high current densities, where parasitic reactions overwhelm the desired interfacial chemistry. Here, we introduce a bioinspired interfacial decoupling strategy using hexamethylphosphoramide (HMPA) to resolve this challenge for nitrile electrosysthesis. The activation of lattice oxygen for substrate dehydrogenation via metal-ligand charge redistribution, and the suppression of OH-driven oxygen evolution reaction (OER) via electrostatic shielding by hydrophobic alkyl chains are concurrently controlled.

Despite the unique advantages of multifunctional integration at the nanoscale, chiral zero-field single-molecule magnets (SMMs), especially those based on homochiral carboxylic acids, are still difficult to obtain. Herein, homochiral ()/()-2-methoxy-2-phenylacetic acids (-HMPA)/(-HMPA) were selected as the bridging ligands to assemble a pair of DyZn enantiomers based on the Schiff base ligand ()-2-((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene)amino)phenol (HL), [DyZn(-MPA)(L)(DMF)]·2DMF (-1) (DMF = ,-dimethylformamide) and [DyZn(-MPA)(L)(DMF)]·2DMF (-1), which possess a [DyZnO] defective dicubane core. The CD spectra of -1 and -1 confirmed their enantiomeric nature and chiral optical activities.

Herein we report the MoODipic(HMPA)ONAr promoted 1,4-aminohydroxylation of dienes using anilines as the quantitative source of N. The transformation involves the formation of the active catalyst Ar-N-molybdooxaziridine 1a, the formation of Ar-NO, a hetero-Diels-Alder reaction, and then reductive cleavage to obtain 1,4-aminoalcohols. Initial kinetic and mechanistic data indicate that Ar-NO formation is the rate-determining step and provides evidence for the proposed catalytic cycle.

Introduction: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) pose a critical occupational health challenge for nurses and caregivers, with high prevalence rates impacting workforce sustainability and care quality. This study evaluates the predictive power of the HEMPA (Herramienta de Evaluación de Movilización de Pacientes) risk assessment method for WMSDs in these high-risk populations, addressing the urgent need for validated tools to guide ergonomic interventions.

Methods: This descriptive and analytical study involved 90 caregivers and nurses from various wards of a medical center in 2024.
