Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can re-active the immune response and induce a complete response in mismatch repair-deficient and microsatellite instability-high (dMMR/MSI-H) colorectal cancer (CRC). However, most CRCs exhibit proficient mismatch repair and microsatellite stable (pMMR/MSS) phenotypes with limited immunotherapy response because of sparse intratumoral CD8 T-lymphocyte infiltration. Cellular senescence has been reported to involve immune cell infiltration through a senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP).

Purpose Of Review: Infertility affects approximately 15% of couples, with male factors implicated in more than 50% of cases. Concerns over declining semen quality - evidenced by a more than 50% drop in sperm concentration over four decades - have triggered investigation into modifiable lifestyle and environmental factors. This review summarizes recent evidence on exposures that negatively impact male fertility.

Kounis syndrome, also known as allergic myocardial infarction, is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition in which acute coronary events are triggered by an allergic reaction. The pathophysiology involves mast cell degranulation and the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, leukotrienes, and platelet-activating factor, leading to coronary vasospasm, myocardial ischemia, or infarction. We present the case of a female patient in her 80s with no prior history of coronary artery disease who developed anaphylaxis shortly after intravenous administration of co-amoxiclav in the emergency department.

d-2-Hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase (D2HGDH) has recently received considerable attention due to the involvement of d-2-hydroxyglutarate in various medical conditions. This enzyme has been reported to diverge in substrate scope depending on whether its source is prokaryotic or eukaryotic. The D2HGDH from , D2HGDH, is of particular interest due to its requirement for survival via the l-serine biosynthesis pathway and its potential use as a therapeutic target against the bacterium.

Selenium is an essential trace element in many organisms but becomes toxic at elevated concentrations. At moderately increased, non-lethal levels, selenite triggers both selenium utilization and stress responses in microorganisms. However, the thresholds of such responses in archaea remain poorly understood.
