ObjectiveThis study aims to determine the outcomes of nickel allergic patients who underwent a trial of forearm arterial stenting with a nickel-based stent, with follow-up to assess for an allergic reaction. In the absence of adverse effects, patients had their intracranial aneurysm treatment with a nickel-based cerebrovascular device.MethodsA retrospective analysis was performed on patients who had an allergy to nickel, with an intracranial aneurysm who underwent treatment with a permanently implanted nickel-containing device.

In orthopaedic surgical procedures, bone cutting is often performed with an oscillating saw. Achieving an optimal cut requires high accuracy, low temperature, minimal surgeon effort, and time efficiency, all of which may be influenced by the forces applied on the sawing device, and the microstructure of the cut bone. The relation between bovine bone microstructure and sawing forces has been studied.

Background: Dedicated radiofrequency (RF) needles and wires for transseptal puncture (TSP) achieve better outcomes vs. electrified open-ended needles and guidewires due to optimized electrode design and energy delivery. This study benchmarked TSP performance between the dedicated VersaCross wire system (VC; Boston Scientific) and an electrified guidewire with an alternative electrode configuration similar to commercially available devices.

We present a case of successful transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement for a rare quadricuspid aortic valve with pure aortic regurgitation. Procedural challenges included identifying the annular plane, determining the appropriate deployment view, annular sizing, the absence of annular calcium, and the lack of a dedicated transcatheter device for pure aortic regurgitation.
