Article Abstract

The increasing technological advancements towards miniaturized physiological measuring devices have enabled continuous monitoring of epileptic patients outside of specialized environments. The large amounts of data that can be recorded with such devices hold significant potential for developing automated seizure detection frameworks. In this work, we present SeizeIT2, the first open dataset of wearable data recorded in patients with focal epilepsy. The dataset comprises more than 11,000 hours of multimodal data, including behind-the-ear electroencephalography, electrocardiography, electromyography and movement (accelerometer and gyroscope) data. The dataset contains 883 focal seizures recorded from 125 patients across five different European Epileptic Monitoring Centers. We present a suggestive training/validation split to propel the development of AI methodologies for seizure detection, as well as two benchmark approaches and evaluation metrics. The dataset can be accessed on OpenNeuro and is stored in Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) format.

Objectives: Patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) typically describe symptoms of fatigue. Despite this frequency, the underlying mechanisms of fatigue are poorly understood, and are likely multifactorial. To help clarify mechanisms, the present systematic review was undertaken to determine the risk factors related to fatigue in ALS.

This study aimed to investigate the age-related alterations in mesial roots of mandibular first molar in terms of root canal curvature values, dentin thickness, interorifice distance, deviation from apical foramen, and location of apical foramen using a three-dimensional curvature measurement method and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Forty-five mesial roots of mandibular first molars from three age groups (Group 1: ≤ 30 years, Group 2: 31-59 years, Group 3: ≥ 60 years) were scanned using micro-CT. The central axis of each mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canal was analyzed using cubic B-spline curves to calculate canal curvature.

Purpose: Glioblastoma (GBM) remains one of the most aggressive primary brain tumors with poor survival outcomes and a lack of approved therapies. A promising novel approach for GBM is the application of photodynamic therapy (PDT), a localized, light-activated treatment using tumor-selective photosensitizers. This narrative review describes the mechanisms, delivery systems, photosensitizers, and available evidence regarding the potential of PDT as a novel therapeutic approach for GBM.

Introduction: Hypertension, the most common adverse events associated with bevacizumab (BEV) treatment, has been proposed as a potential biomarker of treatment response in glioblastoma (GBM) patients. This study aimed to evaluate whether the timing of hypertension serves as a prognostic value in GBM patients.

Methods: This retrospective study consisting of 56 GBM patients treated with initial BEV between 2013 and 2024.

Background And Objectives: Explore whether community social capital measures (system of resources available to individuals through community engagement) are related to surgical outcomes among intracranial tumor patients.

Methods: Adults who underwent resection at a single medical center for intracranial tumor was identified and their zip codes were matched to three variables derived from the Social Capital Atlas: economic connectedness, volunteering rate, and civic organizations. The economic connectedness score quantifies the degree to which low-income and high-income community members are friends with each other, the volunteering rate is defined as the proportion of a given community engaged in community organizations and the civic organization score is defined as the number of local civic organizations within a given community.
