Background: Current management of pediatric cutaneous abscesses involves either spontaneous healing by secondary intention or suturing through tertiary intention, which are often lengthy processes that cause discomfort and distress among children. As it is noninvasive and simple, a novel zipper device is widely used for the primary wound closure of surgical incisions.

Objective: To describe the effectiveness of novel zipper device use for pediatric cutaneous abscess wound closure in an outpatient context.

Chronic wounds, particularly in diabetic patients, are characterized by prolonged inflammation, impaired angiogenesis, and delayed tissue regeneration. To address these challenges, the author developed a bioactive scaffold by incorporating quercetin nanoparticles (Qn) into a chitosan/silk fibroin (ChS) matrix, aiming to accelerate and enhance the wound healing process. Quercetin nanoparticles were synthesized via a solvent displacement method and incorporated into a ChS scaffold using a blending and freeze-drying technique.

Ectopia cordis is an exceptionally uncommon congenital condition where the heart develops outside its normal position due to incomplete closure of the ventral chest wall during embryogenesis. The anomaly may occur in isolation or with other structural defects, often resulting in a poor prognosis despite advancements in medical and surgical care. This report discusses a preterm neonate delivered at 33 weeks of gestation following an uneventful pregnancy in a dizygotic twin gestation.

This study aimed to develop an acellular dermal matrix derived from tilapia skin and evaluate its potential as a bioscaffold for skin wound repair. Structural and compositional changes before and after decellularisation were assessed through histological staining, electron microscopy and immunological analysis. The matrix exhibited low immunogenicity, preserved extracellular matrix architecture and retained key bioactive components.
