Introduction: The optimal surveillance for mucinous appendix cancer (MAC) after cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (CRS/HIPEC) remains unclear. We identified postoperative periods reflecting significant changes in recurrence probability.
Methods: A prospective database (1998-2024) of patients with stage IV MAC with low-grade (LGMCP), high-grade (HGMCP), and signet-ring cell (SRC) histology treated with initial complete (CC-0/1) CRS/HIPEC was analyzed.

The existence of free will has been called into question by Benjamin Libet's seminal experiment, who argued that our conscious decision is preceded by an unconscious decision reflected in the readiness potential (RP). Alternatively, it has been argue that the RP rather reflects a decision process in which different signals accumulate until they reach the intention threshold, at which point an agent experience their intention simultaneously. This raises the question what type of signal is accumulated given that no external information is provided.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by complex disturbances in both innate and adaptive immune responses, often leading to multi-organ involvement. One of the key features of SLE pathogenesis is endothelial dysfunction, which contributes to immune cell infiltration and vascular inflammation. In this context, adhesion molecules such as platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (PECAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) may reflect the degree of endothelial activation.

Purpose: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is a common technique in the surgical management of renal lithiasis, but it also represents a significant workload for surgeons. Factors such as the patient's position and the type of lithotripter used influence the physical and mental load on the surgeon. The study aimed to identify stressors related to PCNL by comparing the physical and mental workload experienced by urologists during PCNL under different patient positions and using two lithotripters.

Informed by psychoanalytic, humanistic, and cybernetic perspectives on defensive functioning, the present work established the psychometric structure and initial validation of the 10-item Self-Presentational Defensiveness Scale (SPDS). Across four studies (total = 1,634), we assessed the item-level observability of the initial 20-item SPDS (Study 1), explored the psychometric structure of the initial SPDS in two separate samples (Studies 2 and 3), and established the psychometric properties of the final 10-item SPDS (Study 4), along with preliminary evidence of convergent and discriminant validity. The SPDS demonstrated (a) item content that was rated as more observable compared to other commonly used measures of defensive functioning, (b) a robust substantive self-presentational defensiveness factor, (c) measurement invariance across gender (i.
