Background: The nursing profession faces workforce shortages and high turnover. Understanding nursing career choices is crucial. This study explores the role of interest in fostering grit among nursing students.
Method: This qualitative descriptive study examined motivations of first-year Bachelor of Nursing students at a regional university in Australia. Data from "Grow Your Grit" program journal entries were analyzed to identify key themes; the study adhered to COREQ guidelines.
Results: Four themes emerged: (1) encompassing a passion for helping others; (2) personal experiences with health care; (3) role models' influence; and (4) practical reasons. Students expressed a deep-seated desire to have a positive effect, inspired by personal health care experiences and role models.
Conclusion: Intrinsic interests, such as compassion and personal experiences, in choosing a nursing career are vital and may inform educational strategies to sustain student engagement and resilience, contributing to a committed and competent nursing workforce. .

Background: Legacy mentors are experienced nurses, usually in their late career, who offer coaching, mentoring and pastoral support to staff who are often at the start of their careers.
Aim: To describe how an acute and community NHS trust successfully implemented the legacy mentor role.
Methods: A quality implementation framework was used to appraise and characterise strategic activities necessary for the successful implementation of the role.

Objectives This study aimed to determine how turnover intentions among public health nurses have changed following their coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) response compared to 10 years ago, using propensity score matching.Methods As part of the Committee on Public Health Nursing's 2022/2023 activities, we conducted a repeated cross-sectional survey among public health nurses based on the Job Demands-Resources Model, a theoretical framework for turnover intentions.
