Article Abstract

We present the calculation of the rotatory strengths of two-photon circular dichroism (TPCD) in the framework of algebraic diagrammatic construction (ADC) using the intermediate state representation (ISR). First, the differences between the length-gauge formulation of TPCD and three gauge-origin invariant approaches are investigated depending on the order of perturbation theory and the basis set. Subsequently, our ADC/ISR results are compared with results of corresponding coupled cluster methods from the literature. The calculations were performed with the recently published Python package responsefun and show that the user can calculate arbitrary sum-over-states expressions without requiring knowledge of ADC theory. The treatment of response properties with the ADC/ISR approach is computationally feasible up to the third order of perturbation theory, and thus this methodology represents a valuable addition to highly accurate benchmark methods.

Department of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Unidad de Excelencia de Química (UEQ), University of Granada, Avda. Fuente Nueva s/n, 18071 Granada, Spain.

Two distorted nanographenes combining helicenes and a fluoranthene unit within their polycyclic scaffolds were synthesized. Their structural and electronic properties were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods, and the experimental data were corroborated computationally. The optical and electrochemical properties of the nanographenes were evaluated.

Chiroptical switches exhibit stimuli-induced changes in the sign or strength of their circular dichroism (CD) or circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) and are materials with significant potential for chiroptical sensing and biological imaging. However, the chromophores used in chiroptical materials usually require excitation by ultraviolet or visible light, which results in higher cytotoxicity and lower penetration compared to near-infrared (NIR) photoexcitation. This can be overcome by multiphoton excitation, yet multiphoton CPL (MP-CPL) has been challenging to measure in organic emitters.

Probiotics benefit their host, potentially exerting microbial balance by stimulating the increase in beneficial bacteria in the intestinal environment. Some studies have shown that specific probiotic strains can alleviate symptoms of medical conditions such as Alzheimer's, reduce the action of carcinogenic agents, and control various biomarkers in women in the first half of pregnancy. In this context, it is important to determine the fundamental aspects of probiotic growth to develop more efficient delivery mechanisms in pharmaceuticals or foods.

Electron transfer in collisional processes plays a crucial role in numerous physical and chemical phenomena. In this study, we investigate the resonance of electron transfer during ion-atom collisions under the influence of a laser field by numerically solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE). Using appropriate laser parameters, we have demonstrated that applying a laser field results in a considerable increase in electron transfer probability due to a single- or two-photon resonance between the ground and excited states.
