Article Abstract

This article presents the preliminary results of the COMET study, which assesses the physical and mental health as well as the professional trajectories of physicians training in general internal medicine (GIM) in Switzerland. This ongoing study began in August 2024 and has enrolled 245 participants from 10 centers to date. Among them, 70.6 % are aiming to specialize in GIM and 76.0 % wish to work part-time, especially women. Only 39.4 % of participants have a positive opinion of their work-life balance. Less than 5 % plan to leave direct patient care in the next five years. The study highlights the importance of understanding the factors that influence the career choices of young physicians in order to meet the needs of the healthcare system.

Background: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) are a leading cause of death worldwide, yet first responder apps can significantly improve outcomes by mobilizing citizens to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation before professional help arrives. Despite their importance, limited research has examined the psychological and behavioral factors that influence individuals' willingness to adopt these apps.

Objective: Given that first responder app use involves elements of both technology adoption and preventive health behavior, it is essential to examine this behavior from multiple theoretical perspectives.

The glymphatic system (GS) is a newly discovered brain anatomy. Its discovery improves our understanding of brain fluid flow and waste removal paths and provides an anatomical basis for the flow of cerebral interstitial fluid (ISF) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). GS occurs through a normal exchange within perivascular space (PVS), facilitating the elimination of metabolic wastes generated by nerve cells from the brain.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between community violence exposure in early childhood and school suspension, examining whether fear in schools and teacher-reported externalizing behavior mediated this relationship.

Methods: Data from the LONGSCAN consortium and path models were used to examine the relationship between violence exposure at age six, fear in schools at age six, teacher-reported externalizing behaviors at age eight, and suspension ages 11-12.
