While histopathology remains the diagnostic gold standard for urothelial carcinoma, this case highlights the emerging role of advanced ultrasonographic techniques in characterizing urethral malignancies. We present a 51-year-old female with a one-month history of refractory lower urinary tract symptoms (urinary frequency, urgency, dysuria, and nocturia) unresponsive to conventional anti-inflammatory therapy. Multimodal ultrasonographic evaluation, incorporating conventional sonography, transrectal ultrasound, elastography, and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS), revealed a complex proximal urethral mass with malignant features. Subsequent cystoscopic and histopathological examinations confirmed the diagnosis of primary urethral adenocarcinoma. This case underscores the diagnostic value of comprehensive ultrasound protocols in evaluating female urethral neoplasms.

Pelvic visceromotor functions such as micturition are regulated by coordinated autonomic and somatic motor pathways from the central nervous system. The parasympathetic system induces detrusor muscle contraction while the somatic system facilitates relaxation of the external urethral sphincter, ensuring synchronized and efficient bladder emptying during the voiding process. This study explores the relationship between Barrington's nucleus corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)-ergic projections and the formation of perineural nets (PNNs) among spinal motoneurons, particularly parasympathetic preganglionic neurons in the intermediolateral nucleus (IML) and Onuf's nucleus during the maturation of the neural circuitry controlling pelvic visceromotor functions.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the risk factors for catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) in patients with ischaemic stroke and provide a scientific basis for developing targeted preventive and nursing measures.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted to study patients with ischaemic stroke and indwelling catheterisation admitted to the Emergency Department of Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University from December 2023 to February 2025. During hospitalisation, quality control was carried out in strict accordance with the consistent nursing operation of the patient's urethral catheter insertion and daily maintenance of the urinary catheter.

The aim of this case study is to illustrate the benefits of clean intermittent self-catheterisation (CISC) in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) who have incomplete bladder emptying. People with MS usually start to experience bladder symptoms 6-8 years after diagnosis, although some individuals experience symptoms from the time of diagnosis. MS is a condition of the central nervous system that affects the brain and spinal cord; the immune system attacks myelin, a substance that protects the nerve fibres, preventing messages travelling smoothly along the fibres to control the whole body, which includes the nerves that control the bladder.
