This study presents a theoretical investigation of the electronic properties of mono- and pentasubstituted cyclopentadiene analogs and variously substituted conjugated nitroalkenes bearing electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups. Conceptual Density Functional Theory (CDFT) and Electron Localization Function (ELF) analyses were employed to characterize the global and local reactivity indices of the reactants. The obtained data provided insights into the nucleophilic and electrophilic nature of the investigated systems, allowing for the prediction of their reactivity patterns in Diels-Alder reactions. A reactivity model for conjugated alkenes toward cyclopentadienes was developed based on correlation analysis using Hammett substituent constants. This approach enabled the prediction of reaction polarity in (4+2) cycloaddition processes, providing insight into how the electronic effects of substituents influence the reaction course. These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of structure-reactivity relationships in Diels-Alder processes.

Effective removal of trace heavy metal ions from aqueous bodies is a pressing problem and requires significant improvement in the area of absorbent material in terms of removal efficiency and sustainability. Alloc-protected furfuryl amino alcohols derived from furfural and ʟ- or ᴅ-valinol were subjected to Torii-type ester electrosynthesis to obtain the corresponding unsaturated esters. These served as key intermediates to prepare ()- and enantioenriched unsaturated amides by -Alloc deprotection which induced concomitant methoxymethyl group cleavage, to- rearrangement, and isomerization of the double bond. An oxazoline ring formation in the resulting unsaturated amides provided the corresponding enantioenriched vinyloxazoline.

Investigation of the fundamental microscopic processes occurring in organic reactions is essential for optimising both organocatalysts and synthetic strategies. In this study, single-molecule fluorescence microscopy was employed to study the Diels-Alder reaction catalysed by a first-generation MacMillan catalyst, providing direct insights into its kinetic dynamics. A new series of dihydronaphthalen-1(2)-one derivatives were synthesized in high yields starting from commercially available 3,5,5-trimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-one 1a, aromatic aldehydes 2, and diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate. Reaction of 1a with the aldehydes produced the respective dienones 3, which could cycloadd to dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate, either stepwise or , under aqueous/organocatalyzed (DMAP) conditions. The respective adducts 4, were produced efficiently a Diels-Alder-double bond isomerization-oxidative aromatization sequence and were characterized based on the analysis of their H and C NMR spectra.
