The crystal chemistry of americium-containing extended structures was investigated, and several classes of americium-containing solid-state oxide materials were obtained in single-crystal form via high-temperature flux crystal growth. This enabled the structural characterization of rare examples of ternary, quaternary, and penternary americium-containing silicates KAm (SiO) and CsAmSiO, phosphates NaAm (PO) and KAm (PO), borates BaAm(BO) and AmBO, borate halides CaAm(BO)Cl, molybdates LiAmMoO, and fluorides CsAmF. Using these crystallographic data, the ionic radii of Am with coordination numbers of six (0.975 Å), seven (1.052 Å), and nine (1.162 Å) were established. A maximum entropy method (MEM) analysis was performed on the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data that were collected for KNd(PO)/KAm(PO), KNdSiO/KAmSiO, and NdBO/AmBO, to qualitatively compare the ionicities of the Nd-O and Am-O bonds. Raman spectroscopy data were collected on single crystals of KAm(PO) and compared to the calculated Raman spectrum of KAm(PO) obtained from DFT calculations.

Room-temperature crystallization of a cobalt-aminoterephthalate framework (CoBDC-NH) directly on 3D-printed polylactic acid (PLA) yields a super-wetting membrane that reconciles permeability and selectivity in oil-water separation. The ambient-pressure route dispenses with conventional hydrothermal steps and preserves the PLA architecture. Molecular dynamics (MD) combined with density-functional (DFT) calculations reveal that NaOH activation exposes carboxylate sites, while trace polyvinylpyrrolidone amplifies van der Waals forces, uniformly dispersing Co nuclei and anchoring the metal-organic framework (MOF) layer.

Magnetic heat capacity measurements of a high-quality single crystal of the dipole-octupole pyrochlore Ce_{2}Hf_{2}O_{7} down to a temperature of T=0.02 K are reported. These show a two-peaked structure, with a Schottky-like peak at T_{1}∼0.

The outdoor storage of wood chips, used in biomass thermal power plants, may lead to different diffuse gaseous emissions. These emissions can contain different molecules, often with a non-negligible odour potential. Despite this need, these solid area sources are particularly complex to be characterised, due to their very high heterogeneity determined by a complex phenomenon of self-heating.

Traditional methods for fruit juice preservation use high temperatures, which degrade beneficial compounds like vitamins and antioxidants. Membrane filtration provides a gentler alternative, preserving nutrients through mild operating temperatures. This study assessed the temperature and pressure influence on watermelon juice microfiltration, focusing on permeated flow, lycopene, sugars, phenolic compounds, and flavonoids.

A series of six quinary rare-earth sulfides CeEuNaSiS, CeEuKSiS, CeEuRbSiS, CeEuCsSiS, CeEuAgSiS, and CeEuCuSiS were obtained in an alkali iodide flux using the boron-chalcogen mixture (BCM) method. Single crystal X-ray diffraction was used to determine the structures of the high quality single crystals that were grown; their elemental compositions were confirmed by energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The compounds crystallize in the hexagonal crystal system in the noncentrosymmetric space group 6.
