Implantable biomedical supercapacitors represent a critical advancement in modern biomedical engineering, offering an optimal power solution for implantable medical devices due to their exceptional characteristics. However, achieving supercapacitors that concurrently exhibit tissue adhesiveness and biocompatibility remains a significant research challenge. In this study, the DMSO post-treatment method is employed to enhance the condensed state structure of the conductive polymer PEDOT:PSS, which results in a significant improvement in the electrochemical performance of the supercapacitor embedded within the poly(acrylic acid) hydrogel matrix. This supercapacitor demonstrates a capacity retention rate of 97.81% after 10 000 charging-discharging cycles. Additionally, it exhibits favorable mechanical properties (tensile strain of 233%) and strong tissue adhesiveness (viscous frictional stress of 6.42 kPa). Following implantation in mice, this device also exhibits excellent biocompatibility. These findings suggest that this technology can significantly advance the energy supply for microintelligent medical devices.

The Diffusion Tensor Image Analysis Along the Perivascular Space (DTI-ALPS) index has been proposed as a marker of glymphatic function.
Aims: To investigate DTI-ALPS in mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, and determine its relationship with cognitive decline, and biomarkers of neurodegeneration.

Powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR) have become an increasingly utilized form of respiratory protection against highly infectious aerosols. In the United States, PAPRs have been used in high-level clinical isolation settings to care for patients infected with viral hemorrhagic fevers and, more recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic. PAPRs have long been used for biocontainment care and experienced increased use during the pandemic because they provide full-face visibility and eye and respiratory protection.

The internal condom (commonly referred to as the female condom), which can be used by both men and women, is a single-use medical device that can be inserted several hours before sexual intercourse for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and for contraception. This review presents an overview of its use, and a summary of the technical and regulatory aspects. We will see that this device is almost as effective as its external counterpart and offers better protection against STIs, but that it remains very underused in the general population.

Purpose: To evaluate and compare the biocompatibility of hydrophilic and hydrophobic intraocular lenses (IOLs) in patients with uveitis undergoing phacoemulsification, with particular focus on posterior capsule opacification (PCO), postoperative inflammation, and visual outcomes.
Methods: Patients with uveitis who underwent phacoemulsification with IOL implantation between 2015 and 2023 were retrospectively reviewed. Propensity score matching (1:1) was performed to account for clinical and demographic variables, yielding 132 eyes (66 per group) for analysis.
