Article Abstract

This study is the first to demonstrate the feasibility of at-home adherence monitoring using a point-of-care urine assay for tenofovir (TFV). Undetectable TFV is strongly associated with lower viral suppression (odds ratio, 0.19, 95% CI, 0.10-0.34; < .001), supporting a streamlined, effective approach for monitoring adherence between viral load assessments.

Kidney transplant recipients face a high risk of acute rejection (AR), where the immune system attacks the transplanted organ. Current diagnostics rely on invasive biopsies with procedural risks, costs, and limited temporal resolution. While urinary chemokines CXCL9 and CXCL10 are promising non-invasive AR biomarkers, clinical adoption is limited by labor-intensive detection and lack of point-of-care (POC) solutions.

Objective: Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), the most frequent complication of extreme preterm birth, lacks not only of a comprehensive definition but also of effective treatments and predictive tools. Metabolomics is a valuable tool to unravel the underlying pathogenetic pathways of diseases and identify possible early markers. The objective of this study was to find metabolic signatures of subsequent BPD development, defined and stratified as per Jobe and Bancalari 2001 NHICD Consensus.

Background: Common cocaine-induced arrhythmias include tachyarrhythmias such as sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, and atrial fibrillation. Most studies evaluating cocaine toxicosis in canines have been performed in an experimental setting, using intravenous administration of the drug. Though helpful, these studies cannot be directly extrapolated in a clinical setting given the different routes of administration.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) and Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) are the predominant causes of bacterial sexually transmitted diseases. While nucleic acid amplification testing (NAATs), primarily polymerase chain reaction (PCR), is regarded as the gold standard for identifying these two pathogens, it usually takes a prolonged turnaround time and requires sophisticated equipment with considerable expense. In this study, we developed novel loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assays for rapid detection (< 30 min) of GC and CT in clinical urine and swab specimens.

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections, affecting approximately 150 million people worldwide each year. Currently, diagnosis is often made using culture-based methods, which are time-consuming and therefore costly. Point-of-care (POC) devices have the potential to provide a rapid and accurate UTI diagnosis, thereby improving treatment efficacy.
