Article Abstract

Background: Osteoporosis (OP) is a condition characterized by systemic degenerative bone disease. Recent studies have suggested a potential association between diffuse panfine bronchiectasis and osteoporosis. In this case report, we present a patient with severe osteoporosis and diffuse panfine bronchiectasis. The patient's medical history, clinical presentation, and diagnostic tests are discussed in detail.

Case Presentation: A 72-year-old postmenopausal woman with a 30-year history of chronic cough and sputum production presented with severe back pain and height reduction (10 cm over 10 years). Imaging revealed multiple spinal compression fractures and severe osteoporosis (lumbar spine T-score: -4.4). CT confirmed diffuse panbronchiolitis with diffuse bilateral micronodular lung lesions. After ruling out secondary factors and common pathogenic factors, it was suspected that her severe osteoporosis might be closely related to diffuse panbronchiolitis. The patient was treated with anti-osteoporosis and anti-inflammatory medications. Currently, her pain has alleviated, and she can perform daily activities.

Conclusion: Clinicians should be aware of this possible association when evaluating patients with osteoporosis.Early identification and active treatment can effectively slow down the progression of osteoporosis. Identifying high-risk patients is also an important measure.

Zoledronic acid is commonly used to treat osteoporosis and it is generally well tolerated. We describe the case of a woman with osteoporosis, who developed a flare-up of osteoarthritis hours after receiving a single dose of zoledronic acid. She developed fever with chills, generalized body aches, and severe low back pain.

Unlabelled: People with a hip fracture are prone to break the bone around the metal repair, causing severe health issues. This study found that initiating anti-osteoporotic medication soon after the first fracture halves that risk, highlighting the benefit of early osteoporosis treatment.

Background: Hip fractures pose significant clinical challenges, often leading to prolonged hospitalization, reduced quality of life, and increased risk of subsequent fractures.

The protocol aims to investigate the effects of Chai hu administration on postmenopausal osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) rats. Eight-week-old female Sprague-Dawley rats underwent bilateral ovariectomy using the dorsal approach to establish a postmenopausal osteoporosis model. Different doses of Chai hu oral liquid were administered by oral gavage for 12 consecutive weeks, followed by evaluations of bone microstructure and measurements of inflammatory cytokine levels.

Chronic hyponatremia is increasingly recognized as a potential contributor to impaired bone health, although the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms have not yet been fully elucidated. Experimental studies have demonstrated that low serum sodium levels affect both osteoclast and osteoblast function, resulting primarily in increased bone resorption and secondarily in reduced bone formation. In humans, however, evidence regarding the effects of hyponatremia on bone remains limited.

BACKGROUND Periprosthetic tibial fractures following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are increasingly encountered in very elderly patients, where multiple comorbidities and osteoporosis compromise early mobilization and elevate the risk of complications. Maintaining pre-injury activities of daily living (ADL) while ensuring safe surgical management is challenging. We present a case of a 95-year-old woman with a periprosthetic tibial shaft fracture managed with open reduction, additional plate fixation, and Ilizarov external fixation, enabling immediate postoperative weight-bearing.
