Due to the high variability in Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E)-stained Whole Slide Images (WSIs), hidden stratification, and batch effects, generalizing beyond the training distribution is one of the main challenges in Deep Learning (DL) for Computational Pathology (CPath). But although DL depends on large volumes of diverse and annotated data, it is common to have a significant number of annotated samples from one or multiple source distributions, and another partially annotated or unlabeled dataset representing a target distribution for which we want to generalize, the so-called Domain Adaptation (DA). In this work, we focus on the task of generalizing from a single source distribution to a target domain. As it is still not clear which domain adaptation strategy is best suited for CPath, we evaluate three different DA strategies, namely FixMatch, CycleGAN, and a self-supervised feature extractor, and show that DA is still a challenge in CPath.

Mediastinal masses often present acutely as medical emergencies, necessitating prompt and accurate diagnosis. Imaging-guided fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) plays a pivotal role in rapidly identifying rare mediastinal tumours and differentiating them from other potential aetiologies, enabling timely intervention. Primary mediastinal germ cell tumours (PMGCTs) constitute approximately 15% of adult mediastinal neoplasms.

Purpose: This research aimed to investigate the association between neutrophil-percentage-to-albumin ratio (NPAR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI) with disease severity in patients diagnosed with acute myocarditis.
Methods: A total of 185 patients were diagnosed with acute myocarditis at the First Hospital of Jilin University between 2018 and 2024. The related values of NPAR, SII, SIRI, and AISI were computed based on the pertinent blood indices that were acquired within 12 hours of admission.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in humans, accounting for about 30-40% of NHL cases worldwide. Canine diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (cDLBCL) is the most common lymphoma subtype in dogs and demonstrates an aggressive biologic behaviour. For tissue biopsies, current confirmatory diagnostic approaches for enlarged lymph nodes rely on expert histopathological assessment, which is time-consuming and requires specialist expertise.

Here, we report the case of a 74-year-old man who developed diarrhea, abdominal pain, and oral intake difficulty and was subsequently hospitalized after receiving atezolizumab for pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Computed tomography and enterocolonoscopy revealed active inflammation in the small intestine but not in the colon, leading to the final diagnosis of irAE enteritis.

Small intestinal diverticulosis is a rare condition, often asymptomatic until complicated with diverticulitis, bleeding, obstruction, or perforation. It predominantly affects elderly men and may present concomitantly with colon diverticulosis. We report the case of a 94-year-old Hispanic woman brought to the emergency department presenting with an acute abdomen.
